Frankly, my advice would be to stay far away from installing any Comcast supplied software apps !!!

Ahh I see, kind of an update desktop doctor. I'm just guessing, but most likely you have to sign in using your primary email account.

This link takes me through the steps to get right back to where I am having my problem.  It wants me to sign in with User ID and Password, which I do, and then I get the page Error 401 - Unauthorized

You're right, that's what it wants but it won't accept it.  I just keep getting the Error message.

What do you expect Easy Solve to do for you?

I was a beta tester for Easy Solve. I was not impressed. All it does is run a scan and lists "problems" it finds.

It will tell you the cache is full and needs to be cleared. You will be told there are things that need to be fixed in order to optiminze your system but no real details are given about WHY it needs to be fixed.

That is basically all Easy Solve is. Stay away from it.

Edit to add SCROLL DOWN TO POST #12  WHICH IS MY IN-DEPTH REVIEW OF EASY SOLVE.

Re: Easy Solve

I strongly protest this Easy Solve update message--which I cannot figure out how to decline and delete.  It is obnoxious--can anyone please explain how to get rid of it.  Why in the world would Comcast be so stubborn? and stupid?

Re: Easy Solve

I had installed Easy Solve. Today I got a message to install an upgrade, which I tried to do. At the very end, I got a message that the upgrade could not be installed and that I should call Comcast's 800 number. So I uninstalled the software instead. Avoid this program. You can uninstall it by going to "Control Panel" then "Programs and Features". Select "Easy Solve" and click "uninstall."

 Uninstall Easy Solve.

I participated in the trial for Easy Solve and was not impressed. Neither was anyone else who participated in it.

Stay away from it. It really doesn't do very much. And it doesn't diagnose any problems. All it does is run a scan and lists "problems" it finds.

If you don't subscribe to Signature Support all it will do is clear out your cache and tell you to fix things that really don't need to be fixed. You will be told there are things that need to be fixed in order to optiminze your system but no real details are given about WHY it needs to be fixed. Some of the things it wants to "fix" are Windows default settings, which probably have not caused you any problems and are ok to leave as is.

Example: "Set Critical Windows 7 Services" with no information on these services.

ES critical services.PNG

Another example for Optimize my Computer: I was told Desktop Shortcuts are disabled. Fixing that added 2 shortcuts which I did not want-Network icon and an icon for my user folder. These only showed up after logging off and then logging back on.

One thing I encountered was being told to clear the cache-AFTER I did an experiment. I cleared my cache. I then ran Easy Solve. I was told the just cleared cache needed to be deleted, so I did some searching and found a history item. When you sign in to Easy Solve it is added to the history. So even if you clear your cache, which includes history before running it, you will ALWAYS be told the cache needs to be cleared. This item is an EASY SOLVE ITEM that gets added to history.

es history.PNG

It will want to "help" you if you are not connected to the internet. I also tested this "help".

The only way I could test it was by unplugging the wired connection my computer has to the router. My husband was using his computer in another room which is a wireless connection so I could not unplug the modem.

It told me to Check your Cables. I checked and gee whiz the cable was disconnected from the router, I plugged it back in. There was nothing that told me I was reconnected to the internet.

The next screen was Reset the Modem. There is no need to reset the modem if the problem was a simple of case of cables or power cord being disconnected or loose.

If you reset the modem and that doesn't work you are told to call Comcast.

Obviously if there is a service outage checking cables and resetting the modem won't work. If there is a Comcast network issue and your internet starts crawling slower than a turtle it won't be able to help you.

Easy Solve assumes something is wrong on YOUR end of things when that may not be the case.

After the trial I uninstalled Easy Solve.

I recently reinstalled it when someone else asked about Easy Solve. I wanted to see if anything had changed.

It has not. It still drops items into history so it still tells me it needs to be deleted even though I cleared it before running Easy Solve. It still tells me critical items need to be fixed with no info on WHAT/WHY they should be fixed. It still tells me desktop icons need to be added to my desktop.

I have not tried the connection portion since the program has been released. That will have to be done when no one else is using his/her computer.

*about the update* I got the message about the update. I installed it. Afterwards I didn't notice anything different.

I keep Easy Solve on my system in order to use it if someone asks about it. I DO NOT USE IT FOR ANYTHING ELSE.

Re: Easy Solve

I installed Easy Solve a couple weeks ago.  Last week I lost my wireless connection to Comcast and tried using Easy Solve to diagnose the problem.  After doing who knows what for awhile it asked for my router's password.  I entered it and waited for awhile while it did who knows  what again.  Then it asked for my router's password again.  Third time around I quit.  I reset the router by unplugging and replugging it, and everything was fine after that.  So the problem was at my end, but Easy Solve was useless in helping me solve it.  I have since uninstalled Easy Solve and have no intention of installing it again.

Re: Easy Solve

I just tried and tried to use Easysolve---which isn't easy.  I get the error 401 and spent an hour on the phone with tech support.  They couldn't resolve the problem.  I had to stop my ear was getting hot and tired and now it's the size of a grapefruit.  I know I should have used speaker phone but didn't think it would take so long.

Maybe they will get it fixed next week.

Uninstall it. Did you read my post above about Easy Solve and how useless it is?

Re: Easy Solve

It is easy to comment on Easy Solve ... no, no, no and no!  It disabled my newsreader and then tried to sell me 5 bucks worth of network diagnostic software that I did not need or want.

Shame on Comcast for using their advantage with trusting customers.  You know, stroke 'em for another few bucks.

Thank you all for posting comments about Easy Solve. I got an e-mail from Comcast today touting it as a great tool, but I was skeptical given the source. I won't install it.

Re: Easy Solve

Just installed EasySolve and not sure what it is suppost to do I was hopping it would help find problems with my computer and conection problems but when I ran it all I get is a message " I don't have a internet conection " so it can not help me. I just downloaded it from the internet I guess it is not so easy for EasySolve to solve anything. I'll try it again when Comcast support can fix it right.

Re: Easy Solve

If you scroll through threads in the Secuity Form you will see that most of the Experts have advised uninstalling it. There is also a post there made by Queen Evie, one of the Experts, that was a beta tester for Easy Solve and recommends dumping it.

Re: Easy Solve

I downloaded Easysolve and was able to use it to repair my internet connection but when I try to run it to optimize my PC I get this message

Error 401--Unauthorized From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1: 10.4.2 401 Unauthorized

The request requires user authentication. The response MUST include a WWW-Authenticate header field (section 14.46) containing a challenge applicable to the requested resource. The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable Authorization header field (section 14.8). If the request already included Authorization credentials, then the 401 response indicates that authorization has been refused for those credentials. If the 401 response contains the same challenge as the prior response, and the user agent has already attempted authentication at least once, then the user SHOULD be presented the entity that was given in the response, since that entity MAY include relevant diagnostic information. HTTP access authentication is explained in section 11.

I don't know how to fix this.  Does anyone else?

[ Edited ]

The fix is don't use Easy Solve to optimize your computer. Your choice whether to uninstall it, which would probably be the best thing to do.

Here (again) is my review. Parts relevant to you and optimizing are in RED. Also read the section on repairing your connection. I'm glad it worked for you but it won't work if the problem is not your connection but is instead a COMCAST network issue.

I participated in the trial for Easy Solve and was not impressed. Neither was anyone else who participated in it.

On 4-16-2012 I deleted one my secondary Comcast email addresses. The next day I opened up Windows Live Mail. A pop up from Easy Solve appeared on my screen, telling me

easy solve mail.PNG

I knew what the problem was-I forgot to delete the account from WLM. Being the curious type I ran the scan.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words I present these snips taken after the scan:

ES Mail Scan1.PNG

ES Mail Scan2.PNG

ES Mail Scan3.PNG

Easy Solve either has delusions of grandeur and thinks it can solve all problems or email "problems" are listed in invisible ink. Comcast has once again added to its not-so-stellar branded software history with Easy Solve. There is nothing about email in the results.

I DID NOT USE IT TO FIX ANYTHING.

I have not tried the connection portion since the program has been released. That will have to be done when no one else is using his/her computer.

EASY SOLVE SUX!  It gives false information, and false alerts.

It took me forever to Uninstall.  So it is basically spyware/malware.

DO NOT INSTALL EASY SOLVE!  Have a Nice Day.

+1 to that.

Even though my review images are outdated since they changed the Easy Solve interface it still does not solve anything.
