I have Xfinity triple play and I have been having connection issues the last few days . Comcast will send a new signal and I'll be working again for a few days . I dont lose the signal completely but the speed is comatose . Anyways they are sending me a new modem . The question I have is they asked me if I wanted their new modem with the built in wireless router but the rep really couldn't give me any information on it so I said no I just want their basic modem for triple play . I was wondering if anyone has the modem with the built in router and if you can configure the security side of it ?
Thanks

Hey Cable Bob,
They are known as "gateway" devices and they are roundley hated by cable guys. One of the major disadvatages is that the user has limited configuration options. They also have notriously lousy signal range. You are much better off with a modem and your own router.
Connection and trouble shooting tips (How to check signal levels.) . Info you should post to get help.
