802.11b & 802.11g

i love the blazing speed i get from comcast but i hate the wires attached to my laptop. i want to go wireless not to share my internet connection but just to have the simplicity of being wired free. i have an apartment and don't use a desk or table, i enjoy being able use my notebook on my couch,balcony,bed,etc... now here is my question do i go 802.11b of coming i understand the difference there is in speed, well sort of, i just use my pc to go on the internet, i don't chat, send files or data or nothing like that. i just enjoy the surfing. 802.11b slow down my internet connections that i have from comcast?

Re: 802.11b & 802.11g

Let's see how my memory is... 802.11b max speed is 11Mbps, while 802.11g is 54Mbps. Comcast internet is 3Mbps. What you need to worry more about is interference from a microwave oven, or, more importantly 2.4Ghz cordless phones, as they share frequency range with 802.11b/g.
