Arris TG862G - connects to wireless but can't get to internet.

Recently installed a Arris TG862G gateway.  Dell Insprion 4150 with Linksys WPC54G wireless card running XP connects to wireless network with excellent signal strength, but it does not connect to the internet.  I get the error that the "server at can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed".  If I connect directly to router with ethernet cable it works.  I'm looking for help to get access wirelessly.

My other laptop and other devices (Android phone, ipod Touch) are accessing the internet wirelessly without issue.

My old setup was a Motorola Surfboard cable modem attached to a Linksys WRT54G wireless router.  Used for internet only, no issues with any devices.  Added Voice so was 'upgraded' to the Arris system.

ipconfig /all for system with problem:

Re: Arris TG862G - connects to wireless but can't get to internet.

Quick update for anyone out there having a similar problem as mine.  I searched this site and read a lot about the Xb0x 360 troubles and potential solutions.  As with some of the xbox posts, for some reason, my gateway was indicating my wifi MAC address as 'blocked' (and only for this one computer, other devices no issues).  Unblocking was unsuccesful (ie, it showed back up as re-blocked).

I was almost ready to try disabling the parental controls entirely or assigning this computer as "trusted" as some xBoxers indicated worked for them.  But, as my last try before doing that, I tried using a USB wifi adapter that I had available (Hawking High Gain Wireless G dish) with it's uique MAC addrerss.  Voila - it now works fine.  I still see my Linksys WPC PCMIA wifi card as blocked in the gateway config details.

Knock on wood, things are working for me.  So I'm guessing there is some sort of firmware/gateway/network card/computer/etc incompatability issue that was source of my issue, and that switching to a different brand wifi adapter with different connection (USB, not pcmia) somehow cleared all that up.

Thanks to all who posted / responded on other threads about issues with their Arris.  Lots of good info out there
