I just got a new modem, it's an Arris Touchstone DOCSIS 3.0 Gateway TG-862.
It works fine, and I was able to connect to the internet wired, and connect to its wireless network just fine.
I want to change some of the settings on the wireless network, though. I know to do that I'm supposed to put http://192.168.0.1/ in the browser, which should bring up the router setup - but it won't open it. It always says the connection has timed out (in Firefox) or just "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" (in IE, obviously).
The internet is working fine, so I guess I can live without being able to change the settings, but I would really feel better if I could. Any idea why it would connect?
Note: I am trying to access the configuration from a computer that is connected to the router by wired ethernet.
