Could you guys fix the routeloop in the SFBA? I'd like to keep using IPv6 at home without going back to the tunnel :smileyhappy:

Re: Evidence of Comcast IPv6 CPE Dual Stack (CPE and CPEPD)

I'm in Santa Clara, CA.

I'm using a Mikrotik Routerboard with 5.19 firmware. Modulo one aparent firmware bug (that has an easy workaround), I've successfully set up DHCPv6 PD for my home LAN.

Not only does it appear to be working correctly, I'm able to get almost 5 megaBYTES per second for the file transfers between my VPS in Texas and the machine in my house - the whole reason I really want to use IPv6 in the first place. Gigabytes of backup files in minutes. I'm astonished.

I'm not going to obscure the host part of the IP address in the screenshot... My mac picks a new host-part every few hours, and I have an IPv6 firewall set up.

Re: Evidence of Comcast IPv6 CPE Dual Stack (CPE and CPEPD)

It's more complicated than that. MacOS X actually does a probe to see which one is faster and then sorts the connection attempt order that way. When using ssh to get to my VPS, sometimes I get IPv6, sometimes I get IPv4.

[ Edited ]

1) Richmond, CA (94805)

2) Linksys WRT54GSv2 running OpenWRT Backfire (10.03.1)

3) {{not applicable}}

router acquires the 2001:558:6045:*/128 for the WAN side and configures the LAN side as 2601:9:200:2d:*/64 and adds a couple v6 nameservers through wide-dhcpv6-client.  using NA option and setting sla_len to zero as you are only delegating us a /64.

But I have no route when executed on the router:

root@OpenWrt:/# ping6 comcast6.net
PING comcast6.net (2001:558:fe16:7:69:252:216:215): 56 data bytes
ping6: sendto: Network is unreachable
root@OpenWrt:/#

Is my head-end 1/2 enabled?

If I add a default route with 'ip -6 route add ::/0 dev eth0.1', ping6 is silent instead of coming back with an error.  I've checked and made sure accept_ra is set on the WAN interface.  This was working before using he.net's tunnel service prior.

*EDIT*

I seem to be having a firewall issue ->

I tried updating the firmware to what I would assume is the newer version, but it keeps saying it failed. I looked up online all the troubleshooting tips, but still won't update. It keeps saying that my firmware is up to date.

FWIW, the new version of firmware is 1.2.2.56NA. Look under the "Router Status" tab for the version that is currently loaded. Are you trying to get it using the router's built in upgrade utility ?

Yes. I am using the router's upgrade function. the firmware version that I have now is 1.0.0.12NA.

Then you may be on a CMTS / system that does not have native IPv6 enabled yet. Try sending a private message to the author of this thread (Comcast Tuska) asking about it here;

IPv6 and Netgear routers - a suggestion

[ Edited ]

For those with Netgear routers...if you have confirmed that your CMTS is IPv6 capable (PM ComcastTuska), try the procedure inthe link below...it may not be a blanket fix, but I found that it works on my WNDR3700 v1 WITH THE INDICATED FIRMWARE!!!. It may be applicable only to older models where Netgear have had to update the firmware to provide IPv6 compatibility, and it may NOT work at all...

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27214510-

Unfortunately, if this DOES work, you may have to go through this procedure every time you have a power outage to your router. Apparently the IPv6 configuration on the WAN interface (at least on the router/firmware version I am using) likes to have some delay to enable the IPv6 connectivity to work properly.

I think that as a first time poster attaching images or links is disabled.

Based on other forums you probably need at least 5 previous posts before you can post links or images.

You could take the screenshot and host it on a free third party site like Image Shack or Photo Bucket and post the URL link to it here.

Goto ASUS website and download the latest code. Once you set the device to "DHCP-PD", reset the device.  It requires a reboot after you set it to IPv6 PD.

2) Router is Debian Linux Squeeze (v6.0.5) with custom written dhclient scripts and radvd w/64 prefix using iptables for IPv4 NAT, Win7 64-bit client using auto-configured address from radvd's RA and private IPv4 RFC1918 address. ipv6-working.jpeg

The image doesn't show up. It's there in the Rich Text editor and HTML, but isn't in my post. :smileyconfused:

No your image does not show up at least to me. Try just sending a screen shot as an attachment with your post.

I understand that images now need to be approved by the Forum Administrator here before they can show up. FWIW, you could also try having it hosted at a site like Imageshack or Photobucket and post the URL that points to it here in a post.

Contact Comcast Larry about it via a PM Jim. It may be just for newer posters that only have a small amount of posts here so far.

Re: Evidence of Comcast IPv6 CPE Dual Stack (CPE and CPEPD)

1. Nashua, NH

2. Retail Motorola SB6120 cable modem with:

     a. Asus RT-N16 with firmware version 3.0.0.4.260

     b. Directly connected with Windows 7 SP1

3. See Google Doc for screenshots

Good to see that it is working just not with the RT-N16 for some reason. Let me know if you want the syslog from the RT-N16. Thank you.

Re: Evidence of Comcast IPv6 CPE Dual Stack (CPE and CPEPD)

dskrabal,

If memory serves, your area is on a Cisco CMTS which does not have IPv6 deployed yet (Tuska may confirm either way). The IPv6 address you are seeing on your Win 7 box id a 6to4 tunnel address, not a native IPv6 address...
