Opening my upnp on smcd3gmv router

Does anyone know how to do this. I was on xbox live and I got a connection error. After that my Nat type switched to strict. I can't figure out how to change the Nat type on the xfinity router. Please help!!!

See page 38 of your user manual.  I would also recommend setting the firewall to Medium or Low so it doesn't interfere with outgoing game connections on the Xbox.

My NAT type is still listed as moderate. I have turned my firewall to low and have made sure my upnp was enabled but i still cant figure out how to open my NAT type.

But I don't know if this applies to the Comcast-modified gateways.

Re: Opening my upnp on smcd3gmv router

Xbox Live does a lot of stupid things, including misnaming things.  Their concept of "open NAT" has nothing to do with actual NAT type, but rather whether your firewall allows incoming connections on certain ports, like port 88 and 3074.  So you can just forward those ports to shut it up, but in most cases these are completely unnecessary.  But they are needed in some situations (particularly if you are hosting a game).  Some games also require other ports, most as outgoing only and require no port forwarding, but again, if you are hosting a game, you must forward those ports.
