Hi all,
I have the xfinity modem that has 7 blue/white lights in the front. Now my thing is, is that I know that if I am using the wifi, then it should blink. But instead this happens; when I am not using LAN or WiFi, it blinks constantly. I know that this is a sign of usage, but when I check the modem webpage, I find no one using it but my laptop. Then if I am using the LAN or WiFi it slows down in blinking. Again I check to see who is on my router/modem, and only my laptop(wifi use) and xbox360(corded connect) show up. Turn everything off and back to my WiFi light blinking like crazy. Help me understand this. Seeing from what I have read, is that the light should only blink if in use.

For most modems, the "activity" light will indeed blink regardless as to whether or not you are currently on line...nothing to be concerned about, this is normal, and not indicative of someone hi-jacking your connection.

FWIW, different firmware loads make different hardware device's indicator lights behave differently.
