Re: How to Secure a Wireless Router

I woke up this morning with no internet, wondering if the FBI shut it down.

After much work,.got it to connect to linksys, cant get my own networking to show.

So I came here hoping to re set router with new password as I have done plenty of times.

I cant get any of the links to bring me to the page to change my router password.

Any idea please!!!

Re: How to Secure a Wireless Router

Connect your laptop or PC directly to one of the router LAN ports using an ethernet cable, then reboot the laptop/pc.

From a command prompt (if you don't know how to get there, look here http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chdos.htm ) issue the ipconfig /all command.

The 'Default Gateway' entry in the returned listing is the IP of your router.

If you have factory reset your router, you will need the default username and password(probably in the router documentation) so you can log in.

Re: How to Secure a Wireless Router

I was married ro a hacker. He never paid for internet and nobody ever knows he's using theirs. I wish Comcast had a standard set wireless and gateway that they hook up and fix problems for us. Ive had an awful time with routers. I even went all out and bought the usb thingie and a booster. Diff brands. All of them ended up making me so angry I tossed em in the closet. Do I look like I went to school for networking? No but the comcast techs should have. WE all need to demand more out of them. This is ridiculous.
