Re: NAT type: Moderate on Xbox with SMCD3GNV

OK, we have a Linksys....and we have to reset it constantly due to the NAT type going to moderate or strict while gaming on XBOX360....  Called linksys and they were absolutely no help. how do we switch the NAT type?  like step by step....i can get around the computer but I still need step by step instructions.  Linksys states i have an online account, but i am unable to access and again they are useless in the help department.

Hi, You have 2 options here.. You can setup Port Forwading or use the DMZ Function in your Router.. You would also need to setup a Static IP on the XBox and make sure the IP you pick for the XBox is Outside the range of the Linksys DHCP Start & End IP.

First to find the Start & End ip of the Router log into it and goto Status on that page look for DHCP you should see the Start & End IP of the Router.. for example if it is 100 and the end ip is 50 select and IP for the XBox Outside that range so either  50 or 200 will work as an example..

Once you have the Static IP setup on the XBox goto PortForward.com and find out what ports to setup in the router and do that and point to the IP of the XBox that you previously setup..

Or an easier way is to just enable the DMZ Mode.. All you should have to do is go to that page where DMZ is located enable the DMZ and put in the IP of the XBox.. Once you do the DMZ All the ports for the XBox will be opened and should fix you NAT issues so will port forwarding..
