Well, the first thing to do is tell us the make and model of your modem. The make and model of your router. How everything is connected and configured, wired and wireless. What is the exact error code and meaning when you look it up.

I'm putting this out there for all similar questions, to save as many people effort as possible. I have the SMC gateway and had this issue, here's what solved it:
Start with this page:
Take all the steps there, then do one more thing. Hit the home key five times, then ffwd, play, rwd, play, ffwd. That will bring you to a settings page, where you can disable network pings. Hopefully, that should fix it.
