My SMC gateway from comcast is working fine for LAN network connection and phone. The wireless connection is constantly dropping. The wireless will not keep an IP address. I had xfinity signature service troubleshoot the issue, but still the wireless connection is dropping. Are anyone else having the same issue and is there a fix?
The gateway issue log: No Ranging Response received T3- timeout (critical)
The modem part of the gateway is working fine, the Wife is not. I did a reset and factory reset but the problem still exist.

There have been many posts here and at other forums indicating that the wireless radio of that device has horrible performance. I suggest that you call in and ask them to put the device in to "bridge mode" for you and that you use a separate high quality wireless router of your choice with it.

The range of wireless on this modem Gateway SMC D3gNV is inadequate to reach to the far end of our house. How can this be corrected?
2nd question: there are 4 ethernet ports. Can I connect one of them to a high speed ethernet switch so as to add more wired devices to the network?
