Smcd3gvn router wan connection problem

I used to connect my labtop to the router in wireless. Last night, i was trying to connect it in cable. After i connect the cable to my labtop internet port and the router ethernet port, it doesn't show up anything. It should have light beside the port. What can i do  ?

Re: Smcd3gvn router wan connection problem

Could be a bad cable or the ethernet port might be disabled.

To enable the ethernet port, you need to go into the command prompt and open up the device manager and enable or reload the ethernet port.

Click start / Run and type cmd in the run box and hit enter. At the blinking cursor, type devmgmt or alternately devmgmt.msc and hit enter. This will bring up the Device Manager screen. Scroll down to Network Adapter and click on the plus sign to the left. You should see your wireless adapter and your ethernet adapter. If the ethernet adapter has a Red X on it then it is disabled. If so, Right Click on it and then Left click on Enable.

What exact model of router are you using?  What OS are you using?  If Windows, report exact output of the command "ipconfig /all" when connected BOTH ways.

To run the ipconfig /all try:

1.Click on Start > and type "cmd" in the Search box.
2.At the Blinking Cursor, type "ipconfig /all" and hit enter.
3.Use your mouse and Highlight the information from step 2 and hit enter (This will copy the info to your clipboard)
4.Open up a new post here in your thread and use ctrl v or rightclick and paste the information into the post
This will give some information so we can see why your Laptop is not connecting.
