In the last week I've found that I am unable to establish VPN connections here in sunny NJ. What happens is that the VPN client on my PC will make the connection to the PPTP port on the server but then the GRE bit of the conversation fails, as if a router somewhere out in the comcast cloud is not routing that. But it just gets better only a problem on wireless connection to laptop, if I plug in all works fine.
This Started last week after getting email from comcast to reboot router to take an upgrade for speed.
I NEED MY OLD SERVICE BACK !!! ?????

I and my coworkers use Microsoft's PPTP VPN client to access our network at work. Those of us using Comcast have been having intermittant connection issues where we get connected but after a few minutes the connection dies. (Actually the connection shows that it is still active but no traffic passes through the tunnel.) My IT people are not seeing this issue with other ISPs but they hear it a lot from Comcast users.
I left this message on Comcast's support mailbox and will post if I get a useful reply.
