having trouble with iphone connecting with my wifi, asking for password but wont take the one ive used, any way to change password

i reviewed this info, the problem is my original password is not working and im very iphone and computer illiterate, so i dont know how to change it, since my other one doesnt work

How did you set up the router in the first place? Through the computer connected by a wire?

Are you using the router setup password or the wifi connection password?

What kind of router are you using? Make Model? that would help alot.

Here is a plan.

Turn on your PC

Open up your Browser (Internet Explorer)

Type 192.168.1.1 into the Browser Address box and hit enter

Browse into the Router. (tell us ut router make and model and we can figure out the router access uid and pw if necessary)

Navigate to Wireless Security and you should see the encryption type, the SSID or Router Name and the passphrase.

Go into your Iphone and set up the encryption to match that of the router and add in the passphrase.

Then on your Iphone look for the connection with the SSID that you set up on your router and make the connection.

Notes:

Use the highest encryption you can which would be wpa2 and change the SSID to something unique so that you can recognize your own router.

I'm having similar issues with wifi not accepting password. Have had no issues with passwords or reception until Denver water installed their new wireless meter box in the basement. Anyone else with this issue? I don't think it would be the router if you had it working before with no issues.

All,

For myself the problem was the network key was too long for my iphone5 to accept.  I had to go into the configuration page and change the password to something shorter and it worked.
