ISSUE #1: Comcast cable modem installed today (TM402P). Hard wired from the modem to computer and internet works, however when switching to another computer (hard wired) - internet drops. Tech had to ping modem to get the internet to come back. While on phone with tech tried to switch back to first computer and would not connect to the internet. Tech had to re-ping the modem again and it worked after the ping.
ISSUE #2: Wanted to hook up my Airport Extreme Wireless router. This worked for about 30 min and then dropped from the internet. No longer is the wireless showing up in the menu.
Anyone have ideas here? Sounds to me as if something is up with the modem. Now tech won't be out to the house for two days so trying to do what I can before then.

When you changed the device connected to the modem, did you press the modem's Reset button? This is necessary, since it only allows one device to get out to the Internet, and it latches onto the first device it sees after being reset.
If you did, then this does sound like a modem problem.

my comcast internet had a regional areas outage. Afterwards my apple extreme would not work- i treid everything.... All I can figure is somehow it got fried, even though it looked to be on, lights on, and the computer said connected. I wound up hyavingt to buy an entirely new router.
I still can not get Airport Express to work, but I have yet to follow up with APple.
What happened to you> Did you ever get this resolved?
