I'm having trouble connecting my apple tv to my network

when I connect the apple tv box via HMDI cable, the light comes on. I also believe I paired the remote with Apple tv because the remote turns on the little apple tv box light. the problem is the set-up screen does not come on the tv screen. It is throgh this screen that I am to Connect to the wireless network. Can you help?

I believe that the light comes on when you plug the box into ac power and that the remote has nothing to do with it.  The set up screen appears when you change the input for the tv set to the hdmi input you are using.

Note for the cognoscenti:  I just received and energized my new Apple TV 3.  After wasting a few hours before discovering that I had to join/sign into iTunes before I could sync the box with my network, I listened (with a glass in hand) to a Student Prince song by Lanza (Drink) and then watched an old possibly politically controversial video clip of Pete Seger singing "Bring Em Home".

The set-up entries are case sensitive and a real pain to enter.

Did you switch the TV's input to whatever port you have the HDMI cable plugged into?
