OSX 10.7 Lion has been out for amost a full year. I've seen some Comcast employees on the site touting the Constant Guard software provided by Comcast. However, it doesn't support the current and soon to be replaced version of OSX (10.7).
So it seems that Comcast hasn't been much more on the ball in keeping their customers updated. Hopefully, it will change soon.

Why on earth would you want any Norton product on your Mac? Norton products have a long history of screwing up Macs. Do you really think you need any software supplied by Comcast?

What would be your recommendation for virus software in 10.7 (or 10.8)?

I recommend none. You do not need it. Others will disagree with me. Never let a Norton product anywhere near your Mac. I have heard that the free ClamX AV is not terrible, but still not needed.

I see that the myth that Mac is impervious is sadly still alive and well..... ![]()

You will notice I said" others will disagree with me". I also never said " impervious". I said " not needed" and I stick with that. The Apple security link from OrigionalMacRat says nothing about installing AV. I will stick with Apple on this one. No Myth, I just don't like putting chewing gum in my hard drive.

I uninstalled the Norton suite from my mini. It was slowing it waaaay down. I'm still running white G4 1.3Ghz

Why would you even install Norton aka Notworhtit anyway. Well, at least you didn't install McAffee aka McCrappy.
I agree, OS X doesn't require an anti-virus and with the new 10.8 Mountain Lion, you got gate keeper!

To anyone trying to install the current 'comcast' version of Norton it WILL NOT WORK!! Lion and Mt. Lion are mostly 64 bit OS's. I don't care what Norton says, it does not work. So the fact we are way past the Lion and now Mt. Lion release is just nuts. Someone needs to work this out on both sides. Just my opinion. I have asked Comcast and Norton, same run around.

I've tried clam and SOPHOS. I'm having great performance with the later on multiple macs, ranging in releases, 2008, 2010, 2011. I'm thinking that constant guard sound great, but if you are relying on extremely hard passwords, patching your OS and software, using an anti-virus, and not sharing passwords cross platform you are as solid as you can be. Norton slows down macs in my opinion and it you are running ML I would say try one of the above as a solution.

Why rely on Comcast to solve these problems? Do you rely on your State to solve your car insurance problems?
For car insurance, you:
1) Learn what the requirements are/Determine what you need
2) Find out what is available
3) Compare the offerings with your needs and make a decision
You should do the same in this case.
