Batch Conversion from Public to Private?

Hi.  Is there a way to change the settings on multiple files with a single action from public to private, or vice versa?  Also, is there a way to set the default as either public or private?  I use filezilla to upload multiple files, but I do not know how to mark the queue as either public or private.  Instead, I have to go through each file and change the setting.  There must be a way to change the settings on a selected group of files simultaneously - can someone help?  Many thanks.

Re: Batch Conversion from Public to Private?

In 4 years there hasn't been a response? I have uploaded multiple picture and files and I'd rather not have to mark each individually, can someone explain how this can be done?

Re: Batch Conversion from Public to Private?

There probably wasn't a response on that particular thread but in other threads about the same time.

Files you upload with an FTP program will be public.

Files you upload with the Comcast File Manager will be private.

Files you upload with the Comcast Photo Manager will be public.

You can change the permissions with the File Manager by clicking on the file's name. As far as I know, there is no way to do this in bulk and no way to do this using your FTP program. The Comcast tools are rudimentary and limited.

Thanks, using the search on the forum is very limited. This thread was the closest I could find. Your response answers alot.

Re: Batch Conversion from Public to Private?

I verified that you cannot do it with an FTP program, even one that has the ability to change Unix file permissions...the Comcast server rejects the CHMOD command....
