Everything was working well and them sometime late yesterday I am no longer able to access the "Public" directory in my personal web space, using my FTP client FIlezilla. I receive an error "failed to retrieve directory listing" and the connection resets. I can access other directories. I get the same message when sending FTP commands so it seems to have nothing to do with FTP client. Finally, the files in the directory (at least some of them) seem to be accessible if enter their address in my browser.
Any thoughts?

I don't use filezilla but there are google results that indicate that some versions of filezilla fail when trying to open a directory that contains a large number of files. A way to test if it is filezilla is to see if another ftp client can open the directory in question. Windows, if you are using it has one built in. Open any windows explorer window (not internet explorer) erase the address bar and type in ftp://upload.comcast.net and follow the prompts for your username and password. See if public will open.

You are the man! I was able to access the directory contents though Windows Explorer. I deleted 30 or so files and Filezilla is happy. I was thrown off by the fact that I got a similar error to the one the Filezilla generated when accessing the directory through FTP in FIrefox.
At any rate, all is well now. Thanks again for your help
