What's Up With the Personal Web Pages????

Suddenly, it claims I am using 100% of my allotted 1GB space. (Yesterday it was 2%, and I haven't used it since then!) Also, I can't upload anything, it claims everything is "unknown" and "unavailable". I called cutomer support, and the guy said he didn't know anything about it, but while on the phone he tried his own web page, and he was getting the same thing! He wrote me up a "service ticket" immediately.....anyone know anything?

Same thing has happened (is happening to me)!  All of my former pictures in the photo gallery are gone!  Called support...got shuttled around to three different techs with no help or knowledge of what was happening!  I am awaiting developments.

Somebody pulled the plug somewhere!!!  :Let's hope that Comcast discovers the problem soon!  I hate talking to Help Techs who don't have a clue!

Me too. Yesterday I was 2% full, this morning 100% and can't do anything.  I'd rather wait it out and HOPE its resolved soon. Calling support will just frustrate me and its not worth it.

I got the same thing.  The tech said he needed to reset my password to check it out and they would call me with the new password.  I don't have time for this!!!

Re: What's Up With the Personal Web Pages????

I have the same problem. Showed up today 5/16/2012. Yesterday 13% usage showed and today 100% of the 1GB is consumed and I did nothing. Access to site builder tabs do not connect properly. Access to the photo gallery shows a blank gallery. I am unable to upload anything. I can still access my other files through the web page but can't see any pictures. I have lost access to 318 pictures that I uploaded.  I called in and they gave me a trouble ticket number and indicated that someone will call no later than Monday the 21st. WoW!!! If I get an answer i will post on Monday or whenever they call. Clearly there is something wrong with the site builder. I did find out that this service is outsourced by Comcast and there is no direct contact that we customers have to the service provider. So we are at the mercy of some unqualified techs to pass along our problem to an incompetent service provider. I hope we can get this cleaned up soon but this is like the black hole.

Re: What's Up With the Personal Web Pages????

I have brought this issue to the attention of the Comcast moderators for these boards, and via their social media contacts.

Unfortunately as a Comcast customer, that is about all the influence I have....we'll just have to see if anyone is listening...

Re: What's Up With the Personal Web Pages????

Thanks for the help, kevj!  If our photo data and files were held by an outsourced server, we can only hope that they (whoever they are) have a tape backup and a restore facility.  If memory serves me, I read somewhere in the Comcast literature that they did not guarantee the security of the digital data used by cutomers within their PWP program, and recommended that customers keep separate safe copies of their data elsewhere.  That seems strange given the company's lavish description of their PWP capacity as an enticement to becoming a customer!  But even given that guarded statement they are going to get one huge black eye from everyone who used their system up to this point if the missing info cannot be retrieved.

As noted by another poster, I have just verified that the issue appears to be corrected...

Thank goodness!  Now I'm going to save my files as quickly as possible to a disk!

Just an FYI....several years ago Comcast almost terminated the PWP, but then decided to keep them, but largely ignore supporting them.  The vast majority of support comes from the Help Forums.  Comcast could pull the plug on PWP at any time without warning.  And, as you probably know, the PWP is extremely basic in nature, not allowing any server-side scripting.  No one pays extra for the service, so if they drop it, your bill will not decrease no matter how much you might protest.  [When Comcast dropped the Community Forums in December, no one's bill decreased, either.]

So, yes, it is a good idea to keep a local copy of everything, including photos, just in case Comcast decides the PWP will be discontinued.
