Constant Guard Protection Suite Error

Repeatedly getting the following error message:

An unexpected error occurred.  Constant Guard Protection Suite will restart automatically.  If the problem persists, click on your Constant Guard Protection Suite icon, select '?' then 'Support'

Error code: 5d7118f5-fab5-4df5-b476-508b82481e87

When I click ok to close this dialog box, my Firefox browser crashes.  When I click on the Constant Guard icon, nothing opens so I am not able to select '?' or anything else.

While you're waiting for CGPS-Support to respond, you may want to check this thread:

Another user had a similar error.

Re: Constant Guard Protection Suite Error

Thanks for posting that, LoPhat. As I said in that post, the Unexpect Error could mean just about anything - it's "when" you get it that really matters. Using the link, which LoPhat provided, remove the CGPS software and restart. Make sure your Firefox browser is working correctly, then reinstall the CGPS from the link, and watch for any prompts from firewalls or anti-virus software to ALLOW the installation. If Firefox is your default browser, you should be prompted to enable the BHO (browser helper object) from the Firefox Add-Ins portion of the tools menu. After the installation, go to the Firefox tools to Add-Ons and make sure the CGPS add-on is present and is enabled. Please let us know if the installation works. If not, please send along info as to what OS you're using, and if it's Firefox - the version. Also, just for the heck of it - and if it appears it could be related to Firefox, try changing your default browser to IE just to see if the problem is present, or not. If it isn't - then the issue is going to be with the browser helper object for Firefox, and if that's the case, and you provide the version, it could help. I've send the error message to engineering for root cause of the crash.

Re: Constant Guard Protection Suite

Protection Suite opens on startup every time I turn on my computer.  Both frustrating & annoying.  "Why does this keep happening to mee!?!?!"

Re: Constant Guard Protection Suite

Hi wolf359,

When you start your computer the CGPS software application will also start but the CGPS Dashboard should not launch just do to the fact that you started up your computer.  It sounds as if you have a bad installation and you need to uninstall/reinstall the software with the CGPS Cleaner Tool.

Please follow these instructions to UN-install Constant Guard:

Copy and paste the following link in your Internet Explorer browser – http://downloads.idvault.com/comcast/cleaner/constantguardcleaninstall.exe

  1. Select “Run” when prompted.
  2. The tool will ask for permission to close all browsers. If prompted, select “Yes.”
  3. The cleaner will note “Completed” when it has.
  4. Restart your computer. It is the Restart which actually completes the software removal

Then follow these instructions to re-install Constant Guard:

1. Go to www.comcast.net/security

2. Select Get It Now and then Install Now

3. Select Download Now

4. Select Save and then Run

5. Select Yes when asked if you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer

6. Select Agree, then Install

7. Create your master PIN and re-enter

8. Select and add the accounts you want protected by Constant Guard

9. Restart computer to complete installation
