Hello - There IS a bug with Firefox and Google which causes what you are seeing in anti-keylogging applications. Are you by any chance using Google search? We see the issue, and have replicated it in the scenario you have described. The first thing to do is to make sure you are using the latest version of the Constant Guard software - so:
1. Go to the CG icon, and launch Constant Guard Protection Suite, then click on the ? on the dashboard window;
2. Click to "Check For Updates," and after the update, or even if the computer states "Up To Date,"
3. Restart the computer.
See if the issue remains - the most common symptom is AFTER opening Google search, and IF you are using Firefox, when you enter any text, the processor is slowed to the point where it takes *sometimes* minutes for it to catch up with the keystrokes. This is because the bug causes each keystroke and each mouse click to be counted as many as 100 times for each single key stroke or mouseclick, but ONLY if there is an anti keylogging application is envoked and ONLY with Firefox. So - hit a letter once, and it is counted 100 times, but displayed once. Hit it twice, and it is counted 200 times.
If the issues remain, disabling the anti-key-logging does NOT resolve the problem. The anti-key-logging needs to be removed completely. We have replicated it in systems not using our anti-keylogging as well. The common factors are Google and Firefox and the event handler used.
You are on a 2+ GHz dual core machine - that's fine. More than enough memory? How much is that? If it's 1 gig, that's not much. If you are running out of physical memory and using virtual memory, your computer will be slower still, and the fact that you are using an operating system which is over 10 years old is not going to help performance with your computer. I only state this because we did replicate the issue using Windows 7 machines. The problem will be much more pronounced with low ram conditions and certainly with XP. The short-term solution - remove the anti-key-logging software. Removing just the GuardedID software will not jeapordize the other security features of your Constant Guard and/or Norton at all.
