Recently Norton released the Password Manager, Identity Safe for IOS. Will this product work on the Comcast subscription to Norton Security Suite? The app asked for a log-in to the account and I can’t seem to get the Comcast account to work.

Hi reidgerunner48,
Very interesting question and since the program just came out there is a learning curve (for users and also those of us whoi try to help answer questions) as to what can and can not be done. I am not an iOS user, know almost nothing about mobile devices, but the link for the downlaod and info on the program, is here: https://identitysafe.norton.com/getMobile
I know it states you must have ID Safe set up ID Safe on a PC/MAC prior to using it on your mobile device. That said, the technology being used is "cloud" and as of now NSS is not capable of placing your ID Safe information on the cloud - thus my first guess would be that this tchnology is not available to NSS users at present.
It is my understanding that the ID Safe cloud capability will be included in the version 6 upgrade of NSS - which would then enable the NSS ID Safe data to be put on the cloud. There is no projected date for the upgrade to occur at this time.
Also another aspect of this whole thing is that you said it asked for a log-in to the account - I am thinking perhaps it is the log-in to either your Norton Account, which as a Comcast customer you do not have an account as such. The account manages your subscription, but that isnot necessary as your program never expires as long as you are a Comcast customer and Comcast offers the program.
Another thought - could they be asking for the log-in to ID Safe that you have installed on your desktop as part of the NSS program? Remember I said you have to have an ID Safe program setup on a PC?MAC before you can use it on your mobile device. Do you have ID Safe setup on your system?
I'll attempt to get some more info from Norton on this. In the meantime you may want to visit the Other Products Board on the Norton Forum and see if there is any info there- or you could register and post your own questions.
Please keep us posted if you find anything out.

I do believe I told some untruths in my last response. In checking some info I received from Norton early this year, it states the following:
"The online vault is created through Norton Account. The functionality of the online vault is not available in the layouts that do not support Norton Account, such as certain SOS layouts. In the layouts that are without Norton Account, all menu items, settings, and other items that are specific to online vaults, are hidden or removed."
SOS Layout
"SOS stands for Symantec Online Services. These products are different to OEM. SOS products are provided to the user by the Internet service provider (ISP) as a monthly service. The product license is always valid until customer cancels this service. SOS products use a 13-character PIN, whereas OEM and retail products use a 25-character product key."
Thus, NSS will not be capable of supporting "cloud" (online vault) and as a result, ID Safe for iOS will not work with a Comcast subscription.
Sorry for the initial bad info.

yes, I have the ID Safe setup on my system. I agree with what you said, it's asking for the Norton account log on. So hopefully with the next upgrade, us Comcast users of Norton will be able to use it also.

You may have muisunderstood my second post re online vault and SOS layout. Comcast's NSS is an SOS Layout and those types do not have access to an online vault - where the iOS ID Safe wold be located - thus even with the upgrade to V 6, NSS will not have the ability.
BTW, I have been in contact with Norton and have reported the limitatons Comcast users are facing (including this one) and when/if I hear anything back I'll pass the info on.
Just curious, did you try the log-in for your ID Safe when it asked for account?

It would be very nice if Comcast would convince Norton to modify the Comcast subscribed version of Norton 360 to allow us to use the cloud and then enable the use of Norton Mobile on my iphone. I would really like this protection and convenience as I am sure other users of the security safe would also.
Thanks for your consideration.

I promise you that you are not the only one that would like to see this. I suggest you post this comment on the Product Suggestion Board on the Norton Forums.
Then if everyone who wants it adds their agreement on that thread - it might just get Norton's attention. I have already requested it with my contacts @ Norton, complained becsue Comcst users do nothave the capability now and am very anxious to see what happens in the future with all the chnages being made to the ID Safe vaults on the commercial side of Nortons.
Once you post it on Nortons, please feel free to come back and post a lik to it so others may add their support and comments.
