Installed Norton, now computer will not start properly

I installed Norton Suite and now my computer boots up but I am unable to run any programs. I am about to uninstall these programs. Any suggestions as how I can fix this? I uninstalled Avast free program and still computer is not responding.

You had both installed concurrently?  You mustn't do that.

 

Use the Norton and Avast removal tools and uninstall any other security programs (to include Microsoft Security Essentials).

 

Reboot.

 

Then install Norton.  Run live update until it says its current (about five times).
