I just became a Comcast internet customer and already have the latest version of Norton Utilities (6.0) installed. Is there any reason why I should download Constant Guard? Does it offer anything else the NU 6 doesn't have?

Norton Utilities is not security software. The Norton Security Suite that Comcast provides free offers antivirus, antimalware protection, a firewall, and additional security. If you have an antivirus program installed you do not need to install the Comcast offering.
If you choose to install the Comcast Norton Security Suite, be sure to uninstall your current security software first. Use any removal tool, if provided.
I recommend you install Norton only, and not the ful CGPS package which may or may not cause issues with your computer. In my opinion, it is no ready for prime time, at this point
The following link will provide you with instructions for the initial installation of Norton Security Suite (NSS):

When you go to download the NSS, please click on the No Thanks Button on the Constant Guard Protection Suite popup. This will reveal the Get it Now Button which will begin the NSS download.
If you have any questions/problems, please let us know.

Hi JohnPlymouth,
First of all please tell us which Norton program you are really running. Open the main page of your product, click on Support and then on About from the drop down. Please tell us the full number of the version.
The reason I am asking this is that Norton Utiliities (6.0) is a program from somewhere around 2001 (or earlier) vintage and is in fact not an antivirus program - but more of a system tuneup type program.
Once we know which Norton product you have installed we can advise you as to what your options are.
Also in regards to Constant Guard, confusion reins supreme as Comcast has elected to call everything seucrity related Constant Guard. There is the Constant Guard - which stated out as a Bot detection program and then Constant Guard Protection Suite (CGPS) was added, which includes various components from various manufacturers and also duplicates some of the Norton Security Suite (a clone of Norton 360) which is also included as part of the CGPS, or Norton Security Suite (NSS) can in fact be downloaded and run without the rest of the CGPS - as some folks are doing.
That said in answer to your question - do you need to download Constant Guard, please tell us which portion you are asking about?
I'm sorry it sounds so complicated, but that is what happens when the marketing type folks want to brand all of a cable company's security offerings by the same name when all it does is confuse the users.
Please let us know which Norton programs you are cutrrently running and we'll go from there.

I am sorry, I have never heard of Norton Internet Security 2012 Plus 360 (V6) NIS 2012 and N 360 are two different programs Norton products and can not operate without conflict on the same system.
As I asked before, please:
"First of all please tell us which Norton program you are really running. Open the main page of your product, click on Support and then on About from the drop down. Please tell us the full number of the version."
I can tell which product you are using by the version number, however the product name is the first entry in About dropdown box.

Did you purchase your current version of Norton? If you did, I would advise keeping it until the subscription expires.
As the time nears for renewal you can go over all the options and make the right decision for you.
I also suggest you go through the security forum and read posts about Constant Guard. That portion of the program has caused issues for some who have installed it.

Thanks I think I will stay away from Constant Guard right now
