This is the word from COMCAST:
We are always looking at different ways to improve our customers' security and safety. As we look for ways to improve your security, we evaluate the best offers and products to meet your needs.

Norton might be faster and use less memory than Mcafee. More speed and less memory mean nothing when your pc's go down because norton does not work.

Thank you for your comments bob183.
Here is another reference for COMCAST's reasoning for you to look at if you desire.

I second that. I've never liked nor TRUST Norton at all. It's not user friendly at all.
I wonder why they wont give us a choice to which one you want to use.

You do have a choice. You can choose to use it, or not to use it. Comcast offers these products to add value to your internet service, you are not paying extra for these services, nor will you receive a reduction if you choose not to use them. Someone else said Norton "does not stop all the viruses or trojans out there." I hate to tell you this, but no one product out there does, and if you are relying on McAfee as a "silver bullet" against further infection, you're just going to end up spending hundreds of dollars again. Norton (or McAfee) is just one tool, but nothing can protect as well as educating yourself against malware threats. Read the stickies at the top of this forum, take the advice of those in-the-know and use the products that they suggest. Don't rely on any one product to do the job, because if you do you're going to end up right back here looking for help cleaning up your machines.

Since there are other threads already devoted to the Norton vs. McAfee debate, this is one is being locked.
The one with the most posts and which is still an active thread is here:
