You need the following:
You need Comcast triple play service.
You need to be on a Motorola system, you would have Motorola or Pace cable boxes in your home.
If you meet these specs, then the issue would be an account code issue on your account that a Comcast CSR would need to fix. This would be for both the UCID on PC or TV.
If you have Scientific Atlanta or Cisco equipment, then it is not yet available to you.

Please call them and attempt to get the phone agent to get it fixed or escalated, as there is very limited support we can ask for from anyone at Comcast.

I had the same problem when I updated the caller ID this past week. Two calls to tech support didn't help. What finally worked is: I went to http://xfinity.comcast.net/callerid/ and downloaded the caller ID program and had it uninstall the one on my computer and install the downloaded version. Then it wouldn't load on startup, so I deleted the startup shortcut (in All Programs, Startup). The new installation left a caller ID icon on the desktop. I copied that to the desktop, then dragged the copy to All Programs, Startup. The original icon is still in place and the program works fine now. At first, calls stopped registering on the TV screen, but when I went into DVR Manager and let it sync with the cable box for several hours, it worked OK. You should FIRST turn off the cable box for several hours so it can reset. More complicated than it should be, but it works now.

I got the new updated version and it worked fine.....after a few days it reverted back and I have to keep reconnecting it every so often....just like it did a few days ago. I wish they would get their act together....Whats the use of having the UIniversal ID if I have to keep reconnecting it all day long.

I just switched over to Xfinity Triple play last week. The installer said caller ID should be working in my area "soon" I get my feed from the Comcast in Waterbury, Conn. When is "soon" . Also the installer plugged the phone cable into the jack on the back that looks like an ethernet connector it kills my phone line and all my calls immediately go to Comcast Voice mail ??? Remove it and all is fine.
So another words "NO Motorola Box" no caller ID . Correct?
The sales people said that I would have caller ID and internet access to my DVR (Date of Mfgr 2010)
in my area now. Wrong.
Thanks
John

The UCID on TV and PC are in trials and beginning deployments in a few Scientific Atlanta / Cisco area's as guide 2.0 gets rolled out. The rollout will continue through 2012 until all area's receive it.
I am at a loss at why the installer would attempt to plug in your phone cord into the cable box when there's no phone jack on there, just a unused ethernet port.
As of right now for most SA area's, you are correct, No Moto, no CID.
