Cable box needing to be unplugged when watching shows on demand

Almost every time when I want to watch something On Demand, it tells me there is an error and I need to unplug my box for 1 minute.  It then takes about 15 minutes to re-set itself.  What can be done to fix this?

Thank you.

Re: Cable box needing to be unplugged when watching shows on demand

I have the exact same problem with both of my hd boxes.  It's been going on for months and I've called support several times.  They've sent me 3 new boxes and the same thing keeps happening.  They need to fix this or I will be switching cable providers!

Same here.  Comcast claims in other threads that it's because the box has no IP address, as if it's our fault.  There's no reason we should have to keep unplugging the box.  It's obviously a problem with the hardware or firmware.  If it successfully gets an IP address after being forcefully reset, then it should just as easily get an IP while running.  It's definitely better than the older messages that were completely useless and didn't offer a solution, but why don't they just fix the root of the problem?
