I was all ready to take the plunge and try my first On-Demand Pay Per View movie until I was asked to put in my 4 digit pin Number. I have no idea what this is?
Is it part of my account number or something?

Sounds like somebody enabled the Purchase PIN. If you didn't do it, it could be leftover from the previous user of the box, if Comcast didn't do a full reset on it.
You can look through here for info on setting or changing it:
At the worst, you may have to call Comcast and have them clear the PIN's, which may require a hard reset of the box, clearing everything such as reminders and iGuide personalization. If it's a DVR, it could erase any recordings and scheduled recordings.

It's a default setting. Try putting in 0000 or 8888. I can't remember which one it is.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Between the remote freezing and the lack of pin for ordering a movie, I almost gave up--but you folks saved the day! At least the internet worked!
