What is going on with the video resolution on the XFinity App for XBox?
When I start playing a video, Game of Thrones for example, the video is blurry and low contrast, even though the menus, etc are just fine.
When I go into the screen settings, I have a choice of stretched, fullscreen, letterbox and native. All of the choices are blurry except native, which is *very* small. It appears the video is 640x480 and stretched up to fill the screen.
How is this HD? There are no settings anywhere in the app which show quality settings, so I can't tell if all content is like this, or if the content is SD because of my internet connection, or what. It's ridiculous that the on demand content from the XBox on Comcasts 'content delivery network' is so much worse than the same content delivered through the cable box.
Netflix streams HD, Xfinity streams HD to my iPad, so why not through the Xbox?

are you streaming the HD content? are you connected to an hd tv with hdmi cable? I ran some hd shows and they looked great on my tv.

I've got mine connected via HDMI. I haven't come across a single show in the Xfinity on demand section that plays back in HD. You'd think the latest shows from HBO, NBC, ABC, CBS, and the like (seeing as they just aired in HD) would be avaialble on demand in HD.
Can anyone officially shed some light on this or can we expect only SD content from the Xfinity app on Xbox 360?

It's the same watching the show on my PC or laptop, its blurry and pixelated. Even if I select quality it still not displaying the content in HD, unless suddenly 480p is HD...

Same problem here, plays everything with 90s era resolution. The only thing Comcast needs to add is slower buffering, then the 90s experience would be complete, with the pixelated video and buffering… buffering…
My setup is Wall --> Modem --> router --> XBOX360 --> HDMI out --> TV
Netflix plays perfect every time in HD and they don’t even have the super awesome, amazing, Comcast content delivery network TM, how they do it must be magic.

Funny to see all this comments; I came here becasue I have same issue. resolution on xfinity app is awful! I have hdmi cable to xbox and shows in xfinity do not fill screen and also look super blurry... not fun to watch stuff this way. I thought because my xbox is set to 1080p things should look better than xfinity box that according to what i remember from when I did research a while back only transmits in 1080i... well this is not 1080p . come on comcast, step up to the plate! 3d is out already at least give us 1080p!

No one broadcasts in 1080p the resolution is only available via bluray hooked up hdmi. I have no problems with the app in hd, are you choosing HD content to display? Maybe a dumb question but you never know. If I pick something that is shown is HD it fills the screen and is very clear. Better than if I was hooked up component from my hd box. I am also running it through a powerline adapter.

xfinity xbox app native resolutions is 720p. it's using adaptive streaming, meaning when you attempt to play a video, it plays the movie as quickly as possible thus appearing as low resolutions for the first couple of seconds or minutes, but will eventually stream up to 720p when it starts to pick up the speed from your internet service.. hope this helps..
