My family has had Comcast Xfinity and the Triple Play service for years now. I'm trying to access the Xfinity app on Xbox 360 but I'm getting error code 4004 after it says it authenticated, but then it says Authentication Failure due to if i remember right something about the License Server not being available. I can't even put my comcast username or password. How am I supposed to be able to use this service? I can access xfinity on the laptop and my iphone but not on the Xbox 360. Somebody please help i've called comcast and they said they couldn't help me both in the cable department and Internet. Help or advise? I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app but no luck!

Please see the FAQ:

Error 4004 means that you're not on the Comcast network. Are you accessing it from a location that has Comcast Internet service?

I'm in the same boat but i just read this:
If you are getting an Error 4004 message, that means you are outside of Comcast network and the service is unavailable.
My school has charter as its carrier for internet and cable...i was very excited for this app coming out!

I am getting the 4004 error code with the Xfinity app. I am a Comcast subscriber and am in a Comcast service area (I double checked) and yet the app still doesn't work. I know there are several areas close by that are not servied by Comcast, but since mine area is a Comcast area there shouldn't be an issue. Is there a fix coming to this issue soon?

I don't think being in an area served by Comcast is quite enough. I think you need to actually be using Comcast's internet service.

Hello,
Error 4004 means that you're not on the Comcast network. Are you accessing it from a location that has Comcast Internet service?
Per ComcastJoe response 03-28-2012 06:36 AM
Are you still getting Error 7000? This was an internal error that should now be resolved. Let me know if you are still having any issues.
Error 999
I did a search on the web and found that this error maybe with everyone trying to login the server is probable overloaded.

Hi, I am subscribed to both comcast internet and premium TV at my residence. I am currently away at college and I am trying to access the Xfinity Xbox app at school, however, every time I try to get into it I get the 4004 error code and never even get a chance to log in with my Comcast account username and password. I herd somewhere that because I am not connected to the modem at my house associated with my account I will not be able to use the app at school, is this true?

Error 4004 means that you're not on the Comcast network. You don't need to be connected to your particular modem, just on Comcast's network.

You need to be on Xfinity Internet to use the Xbox 360 App. Are you using Xfinity Internet at school?

I have not been able to use the app since its release, I have comcast internet, phone, and tv with on demand. The app starts up and goes the authenticating screen and says authenticated but directly after goes to authentication failure screen with error 4004.
"The Xfinity license server is unavailable, please close the app and try agian later"
I have comcast internet and am at home trying use the app but past few weeks ever since release this is all it been giving me.
Atleast you guys finally let us use HBO Go app as I can use that and netflix to pass da time in intill I can access your Xfinity app.

I'm also having the same problem. I kept trying to see if xfinity worked on my xbox and it kept giving me errors. All along i thought there was an xfinity update going on or that xbox live was acting up so i left it at that for a while. And then today i tried it again after a long time of not messing with the xfinity app on xbox and it still gives me an authentication failure. And i thought something might be wrong because it's stupid that just because i had to move away for college i cant get xfinity. I mean if the app is meant to work only if i had xfinity cable then why in the world would i even download it if i can just turn on my tv back at home? its dumb. Then i find this and i read and read and now i see i'm not the only one with this problem going on. I tried it again and this is what it gives me, and it is not the first time it gives me code errors.
Authentication Failure
The XFINITY License Server is unavailable
Please close the application and try again later.
Code 4004.
