How do I temporarily turn off voice mail?
You can not turn it on or off. You can call comcast support at 1-800 comcast to turn it off completely but it is either off and gone or active.

The above information is correct. You will need to call into customer care or I can remove your voicemail for you. Do you still need assistance with this?

You may call into customer care and they can remove it for you or I can.
I would suggest setting your answering machine rings to 5 and keeping your Comcast voicemail and setting the ring count to 9, that way your answering machine will always pickup.( You may go into Xfinity connect and under your voice reference to change the ring count.)
When you are on on the phone your Comcast voicemail will pickup so callers can leave you a voicemail otherwise your line will continue to ring and your answering machine may not pick up those calls.
Please let me know how you wish to proceed.

Did you see the post that said "You can not turn it on or off. You can call comcast support at 1-800 comcast to turn it off completely but it is either off and gone or active."
Sounds pretty clear to me, call 1-800 comcast and request it be turned off.
