ADT install with Comcast voice

I had another VOIP service and am switching to Comcast VOIP.  I had ADT hooked up to my other service.  Now I need to hook ADT into Comcast.  Anyone know how to do it?

Anyone know if the Comcast technicians can do it??

I don't really want to pay ADT $150. to come out.

Thanks

When the installer arrives, make sure you tell him and that he understands that the feed from the eMTA telephony modem needs to be routed thought the RJ45X jack for the alarm panel.

He should know how, as that is part of his training.  You might need to notify ADT that there will be a interruption of service as you are changed over.  Then make sure the alarm is tested before the installer leaves and it is all working properly.

If your replacing another voip service and the eMTA is going in the same location as the old adapter, then it should be easy.

Re: ADT install with Comcast voice

How about in the other order.  If we have Comcast phone, will the ADT technician willingly install the alarm system to hook up with it?  They would not connect to my cable telephone in Charlotte (from whence I am moving) and I had to get a non-Internet phone.  But when last I lived here, I had much better local phone service from my cable company than I have from the available phone companies in my new area.

Sorry.  Found my own answer, this evidently has changed for the better since last I moved: http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/phone/using-adt-home-alarm-system-with-phone/

Re: ADT install with Comcast voice

I install ADT security systems for an authorized dealer.  We can use Comcast voice service for comunication with the alarm system but it's not nearly as secure as using a cell unit.  In order to be done correctly the alarm has to be hooked directly too the comcast modem and not through a phone jack in the house, this is necessary to get line seziure so that if the phone is left off the hook or someone is on the phone and the alarm is set off, it will bypass the rest of the phones.
