Hi..
I know you can buy your own data modem and not pay the monthly rental fees, but can you buy your own voice/data modem for use with Digital Voice and Internet at someplace other than Best Buy?
If so, is there an approved list?
Thanks

Best Buy's in certain markets with Comcast Connection centers are the only place to purchase a eMTA. At the time of purchast the Comcast rep will setup the tech visit to install the eMTA and at that time the tech will take back the rental. The hardware is a Arris TM722G.
The official post in the stickies is at this LINK
No other choices are available right now, including purchasing directly from Comcast.

I was told by a Comcast Tech (telephone support) that in my area (Seattle, WA), I can buy an approved modem and NOT be required to purchase a tech visit (I can call Comcast and get it provisioned, registered, etc).
I currently have the Triple Play (with telephone). I want to discontinue my modem rental and purchase a Docsis 3.0 with EMTA (telephony). What are my modem options? And do I have to purchase from BestBuy?
Thanks
