Caller ID to PC

Does universal caller id work on 64 bit vista computers? I've downloaded caller id and uninstalled it three times. The licence agreement doesn't come up when I download caller id so the caller id logon screen doesn't come up. I've also restored my computer to an earlier date.

Re: Caller ID to PC

The caller ID on PC works on the following windows systems:

Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise including 64 bit editions; Windows Vista SP1, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition SP2 and SP3, Windows XP SP2 and SP3 Microsoft® Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 4; Windows 2003 Server

You can always download the latest application here: http://www.comcast.net/callerID/

Please uninstall any versions of this application, INCLUDING ADOBE AIR, and reinstall it from the link above.

When re-installing, make sure you DO install ADOBE AIR when prompted to do so (VERY IMPORTANT).

Good luck!

p.s. you might want to try and right-click the appliaction executable and select "run as administrator" when installing. This might add an extra step of compatibility.

Did all that. Still didn't work. When I install adobe air I get the license agreement for adobe air and I accept it. Next the license agreement for Universal Caller ID should come up. It doesn't. I get the Universal Caller ID icon in my desktop. I double click on that and the curser goes busy for a second then stops but the log in window never shows up.

Update: 9:49pm 7-7-09 Reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled windows software, first thing I did after performing setup of windows was to download Universal Caller ID. It now works. License agreement came up and I accepted.

Re: Caller ID to PC

I tried installing caller ID on my laptop running Windows XP Home Sp3.  Each time I tried installing it crashed my laptop....blue screen.  The error message that comes up is some type of installed driver may have crashed my system.  Any problems with the software from comcast?

Re: Caller ID to PC

is your pc a mini? with 1gb ram? if so shut down your startup programs like messenger. uncheck the the message messenger starts when  computer starts. then restart your computer with out any programs starting up. I have a mini and when I have too many programs running my cpu is at 100% and then I get the blue screen.

Re: Caller ID to PC

I'm not running a mini pc.  I have a laptop pentinum 4, 2.8 ghz, FB 800 ghz, 1 gig ram, windows xp home OS.  It could be a lot of start-up programs that is causing the problem with the install. I will try to boot without these program and see what happens.

Re: Caller ID to PC

If you are running Win7 (32 or 64 bit), right click on the "Caller ID" icon and select properties.  Click on the compatibility tab at the top and select Windows Vista SP2 as the compatibility mode.  Then save and restart the application.  Worked for me.
