New Service: Caller ID Issues

Hi folks,

 

I just got DV service yesterday, a little over 24 hours ago; I know these things take time, but my caller ID is still showing the name of the former owner of the number when I call people or they call me.  It's been rather disconcerting, esp. since I use my phone for business a lot.  Can anyone give me an idea of how long it will take for my name to be the one showing?

Follow-up: after getting 18 calls yesterday alone for the previous owner of the number, all of them involving bad debts, and another call from some poor soul in a prison this morning, I have asked to have my phone number changed to a different one.  *shakes head*  The online chat tech was very pleasant and professional.  I was assured the numbers are either totally new and have no previous owners, or they have been out of service for "a long, long time."  The new number won't be active for 12-24 hours, and I'm told the caller ID will automatically shift over when the number does: in other words, when my new number is active and I call someone from it, they will see my name in their caller ID.  I hope this is really what happens.

 

Can anyone tell me if the caller ID thing has ever been an issue for them, and what you did to get it resolved?
