I had been able to connect to www.monkeycoder.co.nz for the last 9 months. and this week all of a sudden the browser started telling me that the server can not be found. I read somewhere that comcast has been blocking untrusted websites there fore I am wondering if this site has been blocked.

Just to note that I can access this site through a proxy server. www.monkeycoder.co.nz site is a programming site doing business legally and is a reputable site.

Note that I have tried it on "my Mac OSX 10.6.8" with Safari and Chrome also under "Windows 7 home" with internet explorer 9 and Opera and they all produce the same result.

FWIW, I can browse to the site via Comcast here in northern N.J. Can you post a trace to the site ? Here's mine for the purpose of comparison. Perhaps we can see where the failure is.

I don't know how to do that on my Mac.

I tried to ping

but all I get is this:

I fugure out how to trace  on my Mac its called traceroute

but I still get no clearance.

I cant get to ANY sites in New Zealand yet the Comcast help bot claims it can.

It seems like Comcast is blocking the entire country of New Zealand, not just a couple of sites. I can't get to any NZ sites at all. Last night the Comcast help bot claimed they could get to them and had not idea why I cannot. Time to find a better ISP?

a different ISP is starting to sound good right about now.  I am going to call them and if they can resolve this I think I am going to start look for a new ISP. 

God I hate working with customer Service! they can never really help and treat all their users like idiiots.

side note:

I think Comcast is jumping the gun on the Internet Piracy Act and becoming trigger happy.

I have been unable to get onto many websites and am often redirected.  I have a mac.  I can get on these websites and am not affected in the mac store.  This only happens at home on the comcast system so its not a mac issue.  What can be done to avoid this problem?

they are not only blocking untrusted websites they are blocking a lot more. some years ago they atempted toblock netfli(x) and was trying to charge customers extra to acces it. This sort of stuff could not happen in New York.
