I have five in my family. We use comcast.net as our home page. At the comcast.net page up in upper right in the area where email, voice and tv it says HI, John (my name). When others in my family logon with there username and password it still says HI, John.
Any ideas how to rectify?

I'm not sure how the greeting name propagated across multiple Comcast accounts. But that name is a clickable field, and while one of the other accounts is signed in, I suggest they click on "John" and change it. See what happens if they then sign out, and you sign back in.
Please let us know.

I logged in as my daughter and it had my name. I clicked on my name and changed it to her name. I logged out and back in and it had her name. I then logged her off and logged back in as myself. It still displayed her name. I changed it back to my name logged off and back on and it displayed my name. I looged off as me and back on as my daughter and it still dislplayed my name.
So no matter who you are logged on as does not matter. When you set the name that name in my words is global to all my accounts. Changing name from any account changes it globally. And it doesnt matter what computer you do it from or where you logon from. Does it from public computers too.

What happens if you just Clear the existing Name?
Does it re-populate the name when you log out and then log back in?

There was a bug a long time ago, but I thought it had been fixed. one more thing to try. Close & re-open your browser after doing the sign in/sign out. See if that makes any difference. I just checked all of mine... the name is correct for each one. I have one more thought... will edit this post if I find something else.
EDIT See the steps in my next post to change the Greeting name for Secondary Users.

Here you go:
Sign in with your Primary User name and password
Click on My Account
You will be redirected to Comcast Central & will be asked to sign in again with Primary User name & password
In Comcast Central, click on the Userr & Settings tab
You will now see "Manage My User Accounts"
There is a drop-down box which shows your Primary and all your Secondary Users.
Click on the User (Secondary) you need to fix
Click on View/edit personal information
A new window will open
Type in the GREETING NAME in the appropriate box & save your changes.
Repeat for each Secondary that is not displaying the correct Greeting Name.

CCCarole,
Thanks for jumping in with a much better suggestion. Hope it helps the OP. But it seems like at the least there's a bug in that "pop-up" option to change the greeting. It ought to store it in the same locations for each account as the ones maintained via the method you described.

I agree (about the bug) but the last I had seen here in the Forums it was to do as I outlined...So either the bug still exisits, OR if it is no longer suppose to be functional, then it should be deleted. I am trying to remember, but I do think this started to happen (the bug) when Comcast Central came into being... Maybe someone else remembers better than I do. (old age, memory is going) ![]()
