Firefox Crashes on Xfinity Home Page

[ Edited ]

Greetings,

I have browser crash issues on 2 different machines with Firefox 10 on XP Home and Firefox 11 on Vista. This issue happens on Comcast.Net Homepage. Seems like the crash is usually after I close Xfinity email and return to Comcast.Net Homepage. When it crashes, it is always right when the ads on the right sidebar pops up.

It makes no difference if I set to block popups in the browser.

 Any way to resolve this?

How can I get to open Firefox?  After Windows download the Homepage for Xfinity opens immediately.

FF just crashed again right after signing out of email and before Comcast.Net homepage fully loads. I am pretty sure that the emal program is causing this.

Still crashing regularly on FF12 Vista and XP Pro on two machines, two separate ISPs.

Comcast.net homepage is the only time FF crashes and I'm a moderate Internet user and visit many web pages. I'm convinced it's certain ones of the ads and there's plenty of those.

Being a FF user myself (v12 right now), the first thing that comes to mind is -------do you have any Add-ons, Themes or Plugins in use in FF?  If so, disable them and see if that has any effect on the problem.  FF can be real touchy about 3rd party add-ons and stuff in my experience.

Also, have you tried a different browser to see if it happens there too?  Not to beat the obvious, but have you also tried clearing out FF's cache?  Another thing is that you can stop at least some of those side ads by clicking on the link underneath them, if indeed it is what's causing the problem.

comcast.net still crashing FireFox 12..... I said it before. I am a heavy Internet user at work. I visit many web pages every day and have 0 crashes.

When I go to comcast.net to check email.... I'd say 1 out of 3 pageloads of homepage crashes FF.

Re: Firefox Crashes on Xfinity Home Page

I would try flashblock, just to see if it is flash causing the crash... Then I think you can configure it to only not show flash from Comcast's site.  (I suppose seeing if there is an upgrade to flash player is a good idea too)
