HI
I have Internet Explorer 7 proveded by Comcast. and because a lot of sites aren't supporting ie7 anymore I would like to use Internet Explorer 8 provided by Comcast... BUT when I click the download it does the extracting files and begins to download ( I believe there are 4 or five steps in the download >> install)....
I have tried several times to download and go through the process... it show a box with a bar and running circles which made me think it was processing... it was taking a LONG time to go the the next step... staying on the "download" first step.... I tried starting it over... but keep doing same thing... it never progresses to finish... I left it there overnight... and it was still at download step....
Even though both IE7 and IE8 are provided by Comcast... do I have to first UNINSTALL the IE7 first from the add/remove programs list? Or is it something else?
Can someone Please help with this... really appreciated !! ![]()

Try downloading ,Google Chrome or equivalent browser ie : firefox , then download ie 8 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explor
If you delete 7 then which browser would you download from ? If your computer has enough space left always good idea to have more then one web browser just in case

FWIW, IE-9 is the latest Internet Explorer browser and you don't need those "branded by Comcast" versions of it. Also, you can't really fully delete / uninstall an IE browser as it is an integral part of the Windows operating system.

Hi EG
I have Windows XP on this computer and IE9 website it doesn't have a download for XP. I have been using the " provided by Comcast" because I was unable to watch the TV and Movie videos online.. and was given the link for IE7 provided by Camcast...and it fixed my problem... and found the IE8 provided by Comcast, I thought I should stick with it because of the video problems on Comcast online... I did have regular IE8 when I was having difficulties...
I downloaded IE8 provided by Comcast to my desktop... so If I had to delete IE7 Prov. by Comcast, I would have it ready to download. I didn't know if the download of the Comcast IE8 stopped because of the Comcast IE7 was already there...
any other help is appreciated !!!
Thanks !

If BlueJeans is using Windows XP he/she will not be able to use IE9. It's only for Vista and Windows 7.

Hi
I am still using my XP desktop for watching Comcast Videos and photos etc... and few other things... so my new
laptop is bogged down with graphic stuff...
I recently got a laptop .. still setting up... etc.... I like having another pc for graphic stuff...
Do you think I should delete the IE7 before I try to download Comcast IE8 again..? will that
make any difference?
Thanks

UHFhd,
Stop with suggestions for alternate browsers please. The OP wants IE8, not anything else. Your "suggestion" does nothing to solve the current issue.
Also, when you do post links, make sure they go to a current version. Your Mozilla link is for Firefox 11; current is Firefox 13.

LOPhat ~
Why don't you suggest if they should delete 7 or NOT then install 8 . The alternate is just in case IE 8 FAILS and leaves op with no way to get onto net with borked 7 and 8 browsers . If op deletes 7 then trys to install 8 and it fails as OP said , it would not install after all night then OP is out of luck with no browser . So again thats why i suggested alternate firefox then get clean copy of 8 from microsoft .Heck delete firefox its just to get clean copy of 8 which by the way works for XP
and i'll post recent newest version of firefox http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/13.0/system-r

For Windows XP you need to have IE installed to get the Windows updates.I assumed you knew that, but I guess not.
If there are issues trying to upgrade IE7 to IE8, then the proper place to resolve that problem is in then Microsoft Answers forums since XP will require IE for Windows Updates.
Once IE is installed,. then you can address other browsers. Whatever the problem is, installing Firefox does nothing to resolve it.

BlueJeans, is there a reason you want to use the Comcast branded Internet Explorer?
According to the download page
Do you want these tailored-to-Comcast features?
If you do want them you can install Firefox and see if you can download it using Firefox.
You can always uninstall Firefox if you don't want to keep it.
If you don't need the Comcast features, first check Windows updates to see if there IE 8 is listed as an update. Or you could download the NON-Comcast IE 8 directly from Microsoft.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explor
Newer versions of Internet Explorer install over the older versions. Since your current IE is Comcast branded I don't know if IE 8 will install over it.

IE8 optimized for Comcast features

Hi Queen-Evie
I did have IE8 and was unable to view Comcast movie and tv Videos... would just show a black box and no videos/sound. I was live chat online with a Comcast Rep... and she gave me a IE7 comcast link... and while downloading/installing it had me do an update for Silverlight, even though when I went to the Silverlight webpage it showed I had the most current Silverlight....
After IE7 comcast & update of Silverlight... I was able to view all the tv and movie videos I attempted.... so, when I found IE8 provided by Comcast, figured I would stay with the comcast brand IE and I tried to download/install it... and it just keeps processing... and seemed to be stuck on downloading part( it had a list of several things to process)... and it never got to install or finish and I still have IE7 provided by comcast...
I have ie7/Comcast and ie8/Comcast downloaded on my desktop... and that is when I came here to see if anyone knew if maybe I should remove the Comcast IE7 before I try the Comcast IE8 downloading again... I see that a lot of websites no longer support any IE7 now, that is why I wanted to go to Comcast IE8....
I will also use your link for IE8 and put that on my Desktop, in case I have to remove the Comcast/IE7 and the Comcast/IE8 still doesn't work... I will have IE8 to try....
Thanks for any help you can give me....

I finally was able to download/install IE8... However my original problem now exists. I cannot view Xfinity online TV or Movie Videos. when I click on one to watch, I go to the page to view, it has a black screen/box where the video would play.. nothing happens. ( when I had IE7 installed, I could view the online Xfinity movies & tv ...) The reason for my wanting to change to IE8 is that IE7 is not longer supported by many websites, and page buttons links photos are not there or distorted.....
I went to Comcast/Xfinity Live Chat to get the IE 8 link & they also gave me a link to download/install
Move Media Player ... however when I went there, it said "cannot find this page" ...
Anyone that can help me to find a place where I can download this player... ?
this is the link Xfinity Live Chat gave me that doesn't lead anywhere....

I went to movenetworks.com homepage but they had no linke to the Move Media Player
Help would be sooooo appreciated. Any other suggestions also...
Thanks

Install a different browser such as Firefox. See if you can watch the videos from Firefox.
It might work until you can get your IE sorted out.

Hi Queen-Evie !!
Will it interfere with my IE8 being installed?
Can you tell me what the latest version of Firefox is... I have never used it or know anything about Firefox.
Can you tell me what IE you have or that you know might have IE 8 and if they are able to watch Xfinity online Videos/ movies & tv ?? I just think it would be strange if everyone with IE8 is not able to view the Xfinity online tv & movie videos.... there would be a lot more I Need Help postings....
just wondering why I can view them in IE7 and not IE8
and have the latest version of Silverlight and latest version of Flash Player.
I am have WinXP IE8 Comcast/Xfinity
I really appreciate your help Queen-Evie !!!!

The latest version of Firefox is 13.0.1. You can download it from here. It should work with Windows XP. And no, it will not interfere with Internet Explorer.
I take it that ComcastJoe didn't solve your viewing problem?

Thanks Again for the link.. I will try it....
No, I did speak to someone at Comcast Live Chat... suggested the IE7 & updated my Silverlight and my Flash Player is updated...and my online videos tv & movies played fine....
Live Chat also suggested the download/Install of Move Media Player but the link she gave me wasn't working... IE said page could not be displayed...and I can't find anywhere else to download it from...
But as I mentioned a lot of sites do not support IE7 now and the sites can be pretty jumbled... so back to new IE8... and now those videos do not play again...
Thanks for the firefox 13.0.1 link

Hi Again... thanks for the link... but I am having a hard time finding the actual download for the
Move Media Player.
I click on your link... took me to page with a Blue download button for PDFCreator and
under that is a Green download buttom for 7zipip and in the center there is info about the Move Media Player and under that there is a button that says Download Move Media Player and I clicked that and
in the center of the next page it says:
proceed to the intended program's page: and the link>>
I clicked this link and it brought me to their home page... but could not find any place to
Download the Move Medial Player..
Was I looking in the correct place ?
Thanks for looking for this link... they do not make it easy to get to the download of the player..

Hi BruceW
Thanks for the info on Move Media Player... wonder why she said that was missing for me...
I do have updated Silverlight and Flash Player... I do see the Comcast Videos ( tv & movies ) when I tried IE7... now having new install of IE8... nothing again...
If you read my post above that I read on Foxfire website - users of Foxfire having same problem since Flash Player was last updated... guess Flash is working on it... must be something that doesn't effect IE7, just other browsers.....
Thans again for the info... and any other info that might help.
I am sure there may be another browser out there that is compatible .. ![]()

I finally found a Solution !! It was a setting in my Internet Options/Advanced Settings....
Through frustration, I had to try something so ......
I took my settings that worked and played the videos from my
Laptop ( it has Win7 IE9 but settings worked in my XP IE8 (there are a few settings in IE9 not in IE8,but those were not the problem settings)
If you are having a problem with not being able to watch Comcast online TV and Movies in WinXP & IE8 and you have updated your Silverlight and Flash Player ... and you can insert in a post in this thread ....a copy & paste.. of your Advanced Tab Settings (tab) in >
Tools/ Internet Options/ Advanced Tab .. I can check your Settings against what I have and let you know what to try.....
Thanks to everyone that tried to help, I appreciate your time....
