Internet Explorer 8&9 crashes only when home page is set to Xfinity

I have been running my win 7 (64)bit with internet Explorer 8 and 9 and it has been working OK but I wanted to change my home page from MSN to Xfinity.  Now when I open the internet explorer and it displays the Xfinity home page it locks up and freezes the screen. It is almost impossible to get out of it without a reboot.  Once I change the home page to anything else and open internet explorer it works just fine.

You can try doing a reset of IE.

Tools->Internet Options-> Advanced-> Reset-> Reset

I'm curious does your screen go blank with the blue swirl in the middle ? also, instead of a reset you may want to try "restore advance settings" shown on the same tab as reset.
