Re: Internet explorer problem

Using Comcast IP.  While going from one site to another "Internet Explorer has stopped working"  window displays, reboots and continues after  "windows is checking for solution" window displays.  Why does my Internet Explorer stop and what can I do to correct this problem?

Re: Internet explorer problem

Hadleygy, I have been fighting this same problem for months. You are the first person I have found on the net describing the same problem. If you click the arrow on the error message, does it say APPCHRASH? Also, does it say nerror at ntdll.dll? I believe mine to be an error at ntdll.dll  in the ie9 folder but cannot find a way to correct it. Won't let me delete it and if I did, I don't have instalation cd to replace it! I am using Vista home edition. If you find a cure for "ie stopped working check online for a solution & close program", please post the answer. Thanks, Rod

Re: Internet explorer problem

We are having problems when browsing the internet using IE9.  We keep getting the error message that Internet Explorer has stopped working.  We close out the message and continue on until it comes back again.  Sometimes it will shut down the page we want.

Which version of Internet Explorer? 9

Have you cleared your browser cache?  YES, several times & have tried all the fixes I can find on the internet.

I have Vista on my computer & my wife has Windows 7 on hers.  We both are getting the same problem.  This just started happening 2 weeks ago.

Re: Internet explorer problem

Have you tried a different browser to see if it works with a different one, such as Firefox?

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

You also might want to post your issue in the Connecvity & modem Forum for assistance.  Maybe the issue has something to do with your connection.

You know you can uninstall IE9 then get a fresh copy of IE9 at microsoft downloads and re-install it to see if that cures your problem.

Re: Internet explorer problem

[ Edited ]

Xfinity Video Player Upgrade will not install because the Xfinity website thinks I have Windows 7: IE 6/7. The Microsoft technician walked me through the steps to ascertain I have Microsoft 7: IE 9(64-bit). I have had IE 9 for some time. What gives?

I switched browsers to Google Chrome 12+ and Xfinity said I was almost there but I had to "upgrade" Microsoft Silverlight. So I jumped through all the hoops and determined I have the latest version of Silverlight. So what to do now? I guess I'll try Firefox and see what kind of blockade is thrown up there.

Re: Internet explorer problem

Whatever it is, it is not likely an IE9 (64 bit)/Win 7 64 bit vs Comcast issue, as that is the setup I have on several computers here...none of which are having any browser issues.

It could perhaps be caused by an add-on, not saying that it is, but a possibility.

Re: Internet explorer problem

DoubleG, thanks for your input. I grew so tired of ie9 and its' errors and shutdown issues that I took it out and reverted back to ie8. That cured my problems. Don't think I will go back to 9 until "mickey mouse" Microsoft decides to listen to its' customer complaints. However, I cut my teeth on IE and can't seem to like any other browser. If 8 starts to act up, I'll go back to 7!!

I tried all of the other suggestions in this forum and other forums and nothing worked except getting rid of 9.

I recommend others with similar problems to do the same.

Oh, one more 'word of wisdom'--- Do not buy some program claiming to correct these problems. They are only rip-offs. Just get rid of corrupt ie9!! Thanks, Rod.

Re: Internet explorer problem

What "errors and shutdown issues" are you referring to?  I use IE9 (both 32 bit and 64 bit) on a number of notebooks and desktops, including virtually all day at my office, none of which suffer any systemic issues.

Re: Internet explorer problem

Petec2, IE9 32bit Viste Home Edition- Was plaged with pop up "Internet Explorer has stopped working. Go online for resolution and close program" (This was option 1.) Optiopn 2- "Close program." Issues shown in pop up were APPCHRASH, error ntdll.dll at 000005. All attempts to stop this error failed. Have IE8 now and no more problems. Hope you never get that problem, but many other IE9 users have had same problem.

This problem in my case came 'out of the blue' one day and kept getting worse day after day. Rod

Hmm, never used IE9 on a Vista system, so maybe there is something with that.  I use IE9 exclusively on Win 7 systems...I spend large amounts of time on-line...if that was going to happen, it already would have.

Re: Internet explorer problem

We have been having the very same issues every since we switched to comcast for our ISP  over a year ago and I have IE8. we have to use a different browser for certain things. That is a big inconvience and a bigger pain in the nether regions for sure!! We have tried everything except going back to AT&T for our ISP WE are bundled.:smileysad:  Anyway if you can somehow fix the problem it would be greatly appreciated!!
