Okay. something weird is going on here. about ten days ago, i noticed my laptop starting to run really slow. just overnight this started. i thought...okay, virus, so i downloaded the norton power eraser (for anything that gets by the regular program). ran it, nothing.
okay, so now i'm thinking i've just stored too much. go through my documents, move everything to a thumb drive. still slow. (i don't store anything anywhere else)
defrag, still slow.
clear unnecessary files, still slow. i'm talking slow...like usually when i click on a link, it times out or literally takes 2-3 minutes to open. now, this is on a 56 KPS high speed connection. simple links too, nothing complicated.
now i'm suspicious. so when it locks up, i do control/alt/delete to check system resources. it's showing 99% idle!!!! now i'm really suspicious.
so now i'm thinking my laptop might have a problem...motherboard, etc. so i switch laptops. same issue. here's the really weird thing...second laptop is running linux, not windows. so i know it's not a problem with windows OR my first laptop, since they run different systems. the only common element is... COMCAST.
has anyone else noticed this the last 7-10 days? it's really getting on my nerves.

I have to tell you, Unless you use Comcast's toolbar other products, there is nothing Comcast can do to slow down your computer, Now there can be problems that slow down the internet of course. Is it really that your Computer's are slow? Or is it the internet that's slow?

Same problem here --- and it started about a week ago. No matter what I do, I can't get it to improve.

Yes, same problem here with paying for 20- to 30 Mbps and only getting (point) .54 speeds - ridiculous. Comcast cannot help and only sends the same canned responses.

yep, same here dude....... excessive buffering everytime I go click on any video, youtube etc....gt

I recently experienced the same issue and over the course of a week, culminated in the complete loss of internet connection. Removing the coax cable and unplugging the modem for a minute then reconnecting, resulted in about 30 seconds of internet connection. After calling tech support and receiving a sales pitch for a service technician and line insurance, I bought a new modem and did a manual set up with comcast on their web page. Now, modem download speed is incredibly fast. Could there have been a spike that broke down the modulation/demodulation process? Don't know but a new modem seemed to cure the problem.

Yes - pages load very slow as does the Comcast page - just downloaded EasySolve from Comcast. Still the same.

It would also be interesting to know what area the people, posting here, are from. It could be a localized issue. I'm in the Eastern Panhandle of WV.

I'm from southern New Jersey

I also feel that Comcast has added way too much "stuff" that the ordinary individual doesn't care about. Just give us the speed to access the internet - don't care about what's on TV, watching movies, texting, etc., etc. Give us a choice to select what we want on an individual basis.

The same thing has been happening to me and I at the Jersey Shore. Over the past week my internet, no matter what time of day it is has slowed to 1/2 mb dl and 4 mb ul. Why am I paying $60 a month for this?

Wow, I thought it was just me! This started about a week ago too. I've given up watching a video, it stops and then is buffering for about 2-3 minutes, video will come back on for maybe 20 seconds, and it repeats.
As for getting a new modem which must be "the go to" response for EVERYTHING when a tech has no clue, I DID get a new one and didn't mention that and the tech told me 3 times my modem was bad,.
I'm in Maryland, Harford County!

ME TOO! have tried everything...everything runs sooo slow; some pages don't load at all. wondering why we pay so darn much for this when it's not working...everything is up to date. even downloaded AVG antivirus which is what I always used before this Norton **Stuff**..and it found nothing. I am getting a ridiculous amount of pop-ups too. So frustrated!! I'm from PA by the way

I'm in Maryland. It's not getting any better. It's still so dang slow, it is getting so frustrating. Like above, pages don't load. Verizon is looking better and better as each day goes S L O W L Y by.

Like above, the pages don't load at all. And when they do load it takes forever!!! What is going on here? Verizon is looking better and better with all their deals.

We switched from Verizon to Xfinity...do NOT use Verizon...lots more problems...interenet connection was always going out. I just downloaded a new browser. I am trying firefox and I was using Google chrome. So far it's working much better. Time will tell. It's gonna take forever to add all my bookmarks and such, but at least the pages are loading and MUCH faster!
