RockyRR - It's very simple. Scroll up at the top of the list and you will see the sort bar with Sender and date options. Select 'Date' and it should turn to blue text and the entire list will be sorted to Date.

Greetings - I sinerely hope that new version is coming soon to get rid of this annoying pop up about texting. I am nearing uninstalling to be honest. It pops up all of the time...grrr.
Can you give us an idea as to when the app (Xfinity Mobile v3.5.1) will support Force GPU rendering? It is getting old to have to turn that off just to check email.
Cheers.

Thank you. I saw that the update was coming. No, I have not. To be honest, I resent having to sign up for soemething I don't want...feel like it is being forced on me by Comcast to satisfy some number requirement. May be just me. Thank you for the reply though, truly appreciated.

Turns out that deleting messages using the edit command under device menu optionsis not a perfect solution for the disappearing messages problem. Although the disappearing messages problem happens much less often when deleting messages that way, I did have one case where messages in the inbox appeared (still visible using webmail) when deleting messages this way. I also had one case of disappearing messages when not deleting messages at all, just viewed a message in the inbox, returned to the inbox, and a bunch of messages vanished. In both cases, I had to clear app data and start from scratch to get the messages to reappear.

I downloaded the app to my droid assuming it would allow me to view On Demand. All it seems to do is allow me to watch previews. Am I missing some useful purpose of the app? I know I can change channels and program DVR from my phone, but is that it? I have texting on my phone. I already have my comcast email on my phone, so I certainly don't need another reminder that I have an email-is there a way to turn off this annoying reminder?

I think you go to the settings button in the application home page on the right bottom of the screen. From there you can go to notifications and sounds where you can turn off.

Thanks. That took care of the notifications.
Does the app do anything for viewing On Demand through the phone other than previews?

There's a 3.5.3 release? I just uninstalled and reinstalled and it says 3.5.2 on my screen. How do I get 3.5.3? Thanks

Fishdude - The xfinity mobile app does not allow you to watch on Demand. For now it only allows you to see previews. Please download the Xfinity TV app from the market as most of the TV related functionality will be in that app.
You can turn off email notifcations from the settings from the main menu ( there is settings icon). Go to Notifications and sounds and turn off email notifications.

We know the Voicemail notifications are delayed and not as real time as email. The team is working on it and very shortly the notifications will arrive instantly. Meanwhile you can go into the app settings from the main menu and check if the notifcation settings are set to - check for messages to 15 minutes, by default it is set to hourly.

I love the app, but it never updates properly. Is there some way I can get it to update when its supposed to? I'm talking about when it checks for voice messages. I often don't get my voice mail messages until the next day, our until I manually open the App.

Is there any way to turn off the email part of this app and only use it for text messages? I have multiple email accounts from different providers and I use a universal inbox app for all my email accounts. I don't want to have to check multiple apps for my various email accounts.

Hi Freesteamin,
If you go to application settings -> Notifications and sounds --> There you can turn off the each notification module by module.
Let me know how it goes.
03-26-2012 10:50 PM
That's what I had hoped when I first tried it. However, turning off the notification appears to do just that, you don't get a notification. However, it still gets the email on the set schedule. I've had my phone set that way for about a week and the email keeps coming into that inbox. So the email inbox will keep growing if I don't keep deleting it. I don't want to turn off the notification I want to turn off fetching the email. Based on the lack of response to this note I'm assuming that the answer is that it cannot be turned off. Too bad. All I wanted was the messaging capability.
03-27-2012 08:38 AM
freesteamin, you should be able to select/deslect which email accounts feed into that universal inbox on your phone.

When did more devices come on? As far as I know it is still limited to Apple devices. What other devices have become active?

Yes, I can choose them. Here's my situation. I have 5 email accounts with different ISPs. If I opt to use the Comcast app for Comcast email, I have to go to two places to check my email, 4 in the Universal inbox and 1 with Xfinity. That also means two different UIs for reading and sending emails. I'd rather have everything in one place for ease and simplicity. The other issue is that I have always set my emails to be received and sent manually and the Xfinity app does not let me do that. As I mentioned in a previous email I'd like to use the Xfinity app just for texting.

The following may work. Set up a dummy gmail acct. Have the gmail acct pull your incoming comcast email into that gmail acct, and then have it delete your comcast email from the server.
I have done the first part in the past, pulling comcast email into my gmail and responding from gmail with my comcast address, but I never elected the "delete from server" option, thus my comcast email stayed in my comcast inbox.

Smart business, service 10 percent of the market first and tick off 90 percent. I can't wait for the day when Comcast no longer has a stranglehold on the cable market here and competition drives you to improve your service, not my bill which has now gone from $70/month to $180/month in 3 years.

"Guys, more devices are coming, it's not just a iPhone app (although it is right now). It takes time to develop such apps and remember the Android only released a while ago!"
Over two years ago this was a questionable response, now in April of 2012 it just shows comcast doesn't care. I've been writing software professionally for 30 years and while all software has become much more complex due to a variety of factors, mobile apps take us back to a limited environment that forces simplicity on the application designer. They are not Enterprise Business applications requiring a team of highly trained individuals to produce. Most of the mobile apps produced at my company are done so by summmer intererns because their limited size, complexity, and ability to complete in the period of a college summer break make them perfect projects to for IT interns because they can be taken from concept to deployment in the period they are there!
This is Comcast simply being the the bad customer service company.

What about the apps for the Kindle Fire on the Amazon market also? Lots of customers out there with Kindle Fires now in their families.
04-13-2012 11:46 PM
Currently there is no capability of completely stop the app from recieving the emails. if you don't want to check emails then don't use the email tab. Turn off email notifications from the settigs. The email inbox only shows first 25 emails and does not keep adding up your inbox. You can only focus on the text tab and just use that.

What does email have to do with getting video streams?
04-14-2012 07:23 AM
This thread has gone totally wrong. The question was when was Comcast going to start to service the Android market like they do iPhone/tablet? Two years ago the reply was there was a lot of competition and iPhone was first. That was two years ago and there is a clear market leader and that is Android, NOT Apple's overpriced devices. I wrote a mobile app for our company last week allowing our customers to pull sales data into their accounting form by creation a "spreadsheet". The idea was submitted on our portal by a good Franchisee on 4/16, he has a working prototype today delivered to him yesterday. So from suggestion to test for delivery in a week. You've had two years and you still can't stream to an Android phone?

If xfinity cannot provide the same level of service to all it's subscribers then I would think there is a basis for class action legal issues. Just saying.

T-pain please post yout video stream related comments in Xfinity TV/ Xfinity TV Mobile apps area. Someone will definitely answer it. This thread is for Xfinity mobile app that deals with email, voicemail and text messaging. Currently this app also provides the TV listings and on demand preview clips, but will no longer have them in the next coming releases. You should donwload the Xfinity TV app for Android and report any issues suggestions related to it in the Xfinity TV app forum thread.

Yes, the teams on the Xfinity TV apps are aware of the streaming demand on Android devices (like the iOS Xfinity TV app) and are working on it. I have passed it on. This thread is to be used for Xfinity Mobile app and not Xfinity TV app.

This thread started out discussing the issue of video playback being unavailable to Andriod users. Not quite sure how the topic changed but is confusing at best.

That road map must really take the LONG way to get home. If it has taken two years and your programming team still hasn't figured it out I'm glad they're working for Comcast and not the Defense Department or something important.

You extensively test? That is very hard to believe. If you do, you need to review your test proceedures.

Over last few days I have been having the following issue. I read an email on my droid and delete from within the email. When I go back to inbox the mail is still there. Not sure this happens all the time, but it does happen some of the time. I need to retest, but I think also sometimes it deletes on droid but is still in the inbox on web based email inbox. Anyone else noticing this issue again?
Thanks

I have had the "deleting issue" too.
Can anyone, including Comcast/Xfinity rep on this board, anser these questions?
1. Why doesn't the Xfinity app allow one to use an email address instead of a phone number in the "TO" portion when sending an address? My Verizon text app allows this.
2. Also, I don't see any Xfinity option to send an attachment (like a photo) with a text message.

Are there any improvements planned for the Xfinity TV app? It is VERY slow to open and sometimes crashes.

Will this put the disappearing messages back in my inbox, and remove the deleted emails outside of my xfinity app???
