@CC_Dete / Charvey:
Uninstalling the app and reinstalling it got it to work, but I am hoping that I don't have to do this everytime.
I didn't realize that I had to go to settings, touch the logout section, and then select the logout now option in order to have the application stop running. I've been going into it, and then after using it, pressing the home button on my phone. I'm not sure if when I do that if the application is still running in the background or if it actually closes and stops running.
I changed the setting to logout on exiting, so I will see how this works out.

Any possibility to get the app to be movable to SD card??
12-09-2010 12:18 PM
Until they make it official, this can be easily accomplished for virtually any app by rooting your phone with z4root from the MarketPlace, and then running Titanium Backup. Long-press on (virtually) any app in Titanium Backup and it will give you the option to move to SD Card. Only ones I've come across that don't like this are: keyboards (all) and the Facebook app. Just to be safe, anything you have that has a "widget" running on the launcher screens should probably not be moved to SD either. Other than that though... works beautifully.

@wlutz - no official word on this, but I will share the feedback.
@JaredEriksen - appreciate the feedback, I'll share with the appropriate team.

1. SZ inbox works pretty well, but not perfectly. I had a couple of emails throughout the day that I was able to view/delete no problem. However when I got home and checked on my PC, there was one message from around 11:00 am that never appeared on the app. Not sure if it just didn't want to sync properly for that particular message or what.
2. Also, can the "Inbox" be cleaned up a little bit by removing the "All" and "Voice buttons? There is not much point of having those there since the "Digital Voice" one is right there. It might help speed things up too.
3. Speaking of speeding things up, the "TV Listings" is hardly usable. Every time you scroll down it has to do its "Data Loading". And if you want to scroll back up to one you've already passed, its back to "Data Loading". To top it off once its seemingly done loading, it reverts back up to the ones that already are loaded. For example, I can't ever view the last channel in my favorites. Once I scroll all the way down it does its "Data Loading", then reverts back up to where you can't see it. I try to scroll down but it starts the cycle over again. Fixes: I saw that someone suggested caching TV listings, I like that idea. Or does anyone have any other suggestions to improve this area?
These three things along with my address book sync problem are all I've really found. Really good first try, SZ works pretty well for reading and writing emails, listening to voice mails is easy, and on demand works great. The interface is nice and clean. Just look forward to the other features already available on iPod/iPad.

Sg1strgt I think you missed the point of most of these posts.
First, the app has been promised for nearly 2 months, and the date keeps getting moved. Then when it was actually available no noticed was given. 2nd, now that its out we are finding it to be far less useful then promised. So coupled with the fact the time in releasing and the problems with the app surely you can see the frustration. Afterall, this is comcast, they are suppose to be the best and with that understanding is it really hard to expect the products to be the best?

We do appreciate the feedback. Since this is our first release on the Android platform, we did expect minor discomfort in terms of the user experience. We plan to address bugs and user reported issues in future releases.

Yeah, the improvements that I see that need to be made are:
-all tv listings are not available in the TV Listings sections
- the app is slow, especially the tv listings part for scrolling
- improve on battery usage/battery life
-for email, please add a "push" option.( Right now, I just use the native android email and I set up Comcast through there, because it has push.)
Overall, this app has lots of potential, and the success of it will depend on how quickly the improvements can be made.
One thing that I can take from tillithz's posts is that we'd definitely like more interaction, and updates from the Comcast employees such as yourself. As the app was pushed back a lot, and I remember, coming on here asking for updates a lot, and I sent pms and emails that weren't replied too. So communication and updates from you guys, would make this a better experience overall, and hopefully we will continue to provide good and useful feedback so that you all can make the app experience great. We do appreciate the efforts so far.

@ Detreon,
I also noticed this about the TV Listings from both online and on the app. Online, my tv listing area is "Comcast Dekalb County Digital 30341", however, there is no choice for that on the App. In the App, the closest choice is Atlanta Digital for the 30341 zip code. Technically, they should be the same thing, as I live in Atlanta, in Dekalb county, in the 30341 zip code, but for some reason, they are not listed the same way in the app, as it is on Comcast's website.

I loaded it up as soon as I saw it on the 7th and am finding it still a little buggy as far as the email app. It's loaded on a Sprint Samsung Epic 4g. For some reason emails will "disappear" from the inbox on my phone after reading them. Also if I tag several messages to delete or to move them to the Trash folder, it will wipe out all of the emails I have received that day. I can go in and do a search for the topic or sender and retrieve them that way. It also will not automatically refresh. I am having to manually do it every time I want to check emails. I have cycled the phone as well as un/reinstalled the app several times. The last time I got the dreaded "You must be a subscriber..." page I gave up.
It does show promise though. I do like the ability to check my home VM on my cell phone.
My wife got so frustrated with it she went back to the old POP3 system. I finally did also. I think I am going to have to wait for the next update and try again.

You might try ATK Advanced Task Killer available in the Market Place on you DX. Kills unused Apps with exception of those appps you mark as ignore.

The android app works decent. But I was curious if it's able to rotate when I turn my phone for landscape mode. From what I noticed, it doesn't. Is it a possibility? Most of my apps do. And usually sifting through emails and such I put my phone in landscape mode. Usually easier when going through with keyboard in landscape.
12-11-2010 07:38 PM
Doesn't rotate on my Droid X either.

Ahh ok, so it's just not me with my MyTouch 3g running 1.6. Still awaiting tmo to update the os.

Yea my DX is running Froyo 2.2 and just did the 2.3.370 update from Verizon.

I keep encountering a problem with the app not updating. For example: if I happened to have opened the app at some point during the day, and then later when I am at my computer and open Outlook to get my e-mail, and then later on open the mobile app, I am frequently getting an error that says something like Xfinity has encountered an error in processing your request. I called customer service and got transfered over to Xfinity, and they suggested uninstalling the app and then reinstalling. I can do that, but is this something that I am going to have to do every single time I have a problem with the app?

I have only had to do that once. Seems to have worked.

The Android client doesn't use push, it polls for the mail which is configurable. I think what you read was a mistake in the marketing that's being corrected.

How do you empty the Droid trashcan of email all at once?
There's no one step method, but once in 'trash' you can go to the Android menu and select edit. Then you can select each message and do a one time delete operation.
If you want to purge your mail regularly, you could setup Smartzone (which is the same trash folder) and have that deleted daily or something similar.

Correct. You are mixing the functions of two different apps up. One called xfinity TV and one called xfinity Mobile. Read the thread, it's all in here.

Yes, the Android version of the Xfinity TV App is said to be released sometime in January.

The Xfinity Mobile App for Android is currently available in the Marketplace.
Tap Launcher > Market > All Apps > Top Free and search for Xfinity Mobile.
It does SmartzoneInbox, Address Book, Digital Voice, TV Listings and On Demaind on the Main Menu.
If you tap the i icon on the lower left, you can reach this forum.
Looks pretty good on my Droid X

Doesn't work on a Motorola CLIQ that's only running the older Android version 1.5. You should be able to get the over the air update to Android 1.6 for your CLIQ.
If you go to Motorola's site, you can even download Android 2.1 now, which you save on your computer, then copy to your phone's SD card., after which a restart of your cell phone will recognize that it's present and run that update. NOTE: You must have at least Android 1.6 on your CLIQ before you can update to Android 2.1.

JamesR just posted, telling us that the Xfinity Mobile app for Android is now in the Market, although it has been available over a week ago, and I already posted that on Dec. 7th. Lol so I was wondering if he was joking, especially with all of the posts of people giving their feedback about the app.

- Frequent messages of "Xfninity mobile encountered an error in processing your request".
- TV Schedule is often wrong or does not update (probably related to the above)
- Since TV schedule is incorrect, difficult if not impossible to set a recording.
- On demand - need to be able to filter "subscription not available" items out of the list.
- On demand - need submenus included. Instead of going down menues one two three and seeing the shows I'm looking for I'm one level down, then "add 50 more" until I get another "error in prosessing your request".
In it's current form neither impressive nor useful.

Both my DX's are doing well with Email.
Do you have the 2.3.340 verizon update?
Might try uninstalling and reinstalling the App. That has been reportedly helpful in other cases.

I believe someone else has mentioned this too, but there is definately a problem with a message doesn't want to load and the app is stuck. You are forced to end the task (the app) and reopen it. At that point whatever came in the last update is no longer there. If you want to see it you have to uninstall/reinstall the app.
