Thanks Stmiranda. Do check out the Text messaging feature if you have Comcast voice
12-21-2011 10:13 AM
First, where do I access this new texting feature? Do I have to be using the Comcast primary account to use it?
Second, love the WhatsaCubit username! Voompah, voompah, voompah - "Noah?"
12-21-2011 10:17 AM
Shermo, I think it is listed in the menu. Not using it here as I have unlimited text on my plan but I saw it in there after I updated. I'm just praying the email now works. Had to laugh when i saw new features when they still hadn't got email to work. So far, so good. No lock ups or sit and spin...

Looks like I have the same 6 menu options in version 3.5 as I did in prior version - messages, address book, digital voice, tv listings, on demand and my account. I assume because I don't use the primary account, I do not see a texting option. No worries, as I have an unlimted texting plan as well, so no need, just curious.
On another note, I see they removed the "folders" tab from the messages screen. Now you need to access through the menu. Probably a good idea, as I thought there were too many tabs on the opening message screen. I did just experience the missing email issue (deleted an email and all newer emails deleted) but it corrected itself in about 30 seconds. It appears to be happening less often. I'll just have to read my emails slower and allow for the correction time, while remembering to delete newest emails first!

Sigh...
Still having problems with vanishing messages -- messages that are in my inbox, visible from the web interface, but that disappear from the message list viewed through the app. Refresh command does not fix the problem. Killing the app and restarting it does not help. Logging out and logging back in doesn't fix it.
Clearing data and cache and then logging back in again does fix the problem, but having to do this just to ensure that the mailbox is in sync should not be necessary. (And each time I have to go and reset all of my app preferences since they get reset when app data/cache are cleared.
It's a bit confusing trying to understand how after several updates to the app the refresh command can't simply clear out all messages and re-sync with the server.
Back to using the browser and waiting for the next version of the app to come out.

@ComcastKchahal: Thanks for the reply. I only use Internet service from comcast so the voice, tv and texting features are no concern of mine.
v3.5 review: So for so good. Messages are showing up immediately when I open the app. I'm able to read and reply to them as expected. This was always a challenge before. The address book is now functional. Start to type a name and the entry from my contacts appears.

Just downloaded the update. It opened okay, and notified me that I had new e-mails.
Opened one e-mail and deleted it. It went back to the Inbox. So far, so good.
I clicked on another e-mail to open it. My phone screen went black and locked up, and after several minutes it forced closed.
I opened the app again. The e-mail tab at the top showed 22 e-mails, but the space below where the e-mails should be says "No Emails".
I can see all of the e-mails fine on webmail.

I installed this app today after hearing it had hopefully been fixed. It seems to be working ok, but it sure takes awhile to open, view, and delete an email.

Hi,
There is settings button in application home page on the right bottom of the screen. From there you can go to notifications and sounds where you can turn off.

Appreciate the new effort into the 3.5 app. Going reasonable well, but have to clear the data field after 5mb downloaded. I don't now if its my eyes or what, but the fonts in the emails seem smaller. I can adjust the fonts for 2.3.4 AOS and also for the gmail and android mail apps, but unable to increase the font size in Android 3.5 xfinity mobile app. I have tried to pinch, looked through the settings, and otherwise increase it. Any suggestions as to how this can be done?

Do you understand that im using my phone as my wifi hotspot and all of my laptop outlook generated emails are just sitting in the outbox because they cant get to the comcast.net??????
You don't have an app for this????
Really?////really?____really?

App works much better than it did in the past. However, it still isn't great. In the past few days, I haven't been getting notificiations for new e-mails. The app hung once when clicking on a link. I had to reboot the phone. I had no problems with the link from my gmail app. Sometimes the links are active, sometimes not.
I'm still debating whether I'm going to keep it. The only advantage of keeping it is it seems to be syncing my e-mails, which it did not before. But using the gmail app works much faster wtih less headaches.

drlov - were you able to pinch and adjust font earlier on the app? Was the font bigger in the version before 3.5 launch ?

So, since my last post, I stopped receiving notifications of new email messages. I've been monitorning my inbox via the web and I've received no notifications from the Android app of the new messages. I've cleared the cache and data and have deinstalled/reinstalled the app. Will see what happens....

stmiranda - can you go to app settings from main menu and change the 'check for new messages' settings to 15 minutes again from changing it to manually? Or log out and log back in please?
01-01-2012 07:26 PM
ComcastKchahal:
The app is set to check for email every hour. I've have however changed it to 15 minutes and have also logged out and in again. I have also uninstalled the app completely and reinstalled it. I did get one notification yesterday. The app has never been set to manual.

Everyone,
We have identified issue on server side because of which email updates are not getting pushed and email updates are received only when user logs out and log back in again. We are actively working on the issue to be fixed soon in next 2-3 days.

You are welcome. Can you log out of the app and log back in.
the issue should be resolved.

I have logged out and logged back in. I refreshed the screen. I haven't rec'd a new mail notification in a few weeks. Now that I have logged out and in, I'll see what happens and let the forum know.

All,
Issue with notifications should be resolved by now.
Can you actually follow below steps, just to make sure everything is clear in the app
1. Go to device settings --> manage applications --> Xfinity Mobile --> Clear cache
Let me know how it goes

Is the rumor true that Comcast will move from POP to IMAP email service? And if so, when? Once that change takes place I would just use my native phone email app to get Comcast email and could forego all the issues with this undependable xfininty mobile email app.
01-11-2012 03:31 PM
After seeing that the developer of the xfinity app used Gmail, I pretty much have moved anything business related over to that account. This has just been a total nightmare of an episode with this xfinity app. I access it through the web, but am pretty much just going to use this account to give to retailers asking for an email address. If google starts a cable service, I'm probably moving there too! lol
01-11-2012 09:26 PM
I logged out of the app and logged back in. App is working fine. However, the notifications for new e-mails arrive about 2 hours after I get the notifications for my google mail app.
But so far, so good. A big improvement but still isn't better than what I already have with the mail app with Droid X
01-13-2012 02:04 PM
Annon- can you go to your Xfinity mobile app settings (from main menu) and change check for messages and change it to 15 minutes instead of one hour.
01-16-2012 01:33 PM
Just confirming that previous problems are not resolved. Still suffering from disappearing messages (messages in the inbox, visible from the webmail interface, sometimes vanish from the inbox in the Xfinity App. Refresh command never fixes the problem. Logging out and logging back in also does not consistently fix the problem. Clearing cache and app data and then starting over does fix the problem, but obviously that shouldn't be necessary just to ensure an up-to-date inbox.
New email notification is also not working consistently. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. And yes, I have my notification set to check every 15 minutes.
I echo other peoples' previous comments that it would be nice to get current functionality working properly before adding new functionality (e.g., text messaging).

Same here, the missing email problems still exist. Very troubling.
1. Does anyone have a feel for how the respective equivalent xfininty app works on iPhone? Do emails disappear there? Are there other big issues to consider for the xfinity iPhone app?
2. Has anyone set up their gmail account to be able to "read" comcast mail and "send" gmail email with your comcast email address in the from field?
I just set up my gmail account to do this, and imported over my comcast emails, althgouh it appears to just move over your inbox - any content on your Comcast other folders does not come over. I also selected to have it delete the comcast email when it transfers it from comcast to gmail, thus eliminating any duplication of emails. If I set up my gmail to cc my comcast account on everything I send (haven't figured this out yet), I guess I would have all the same comcast emails in both places?
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks

Just had a very first time unusual experience with the android app. No mail for last 28 hrs. Got message that email was only available to subscribers to internet service. Subscribe here. Went to computer and HTC internet and had access to email. Any ideas why the servers would not recognize the phone Xfinity app? Had to reboot the app to restore the functionality. 2.8mb in cache, 4.1mb in data.

Did you uninstall and reinstall the app? App works on gingerbread for me.

Perhaps this has already been asked and excuse me if it has but when are us Android users going to be able to watch On-Demand programs via the XfinityTV app as the iPhone/Pad/Pod users have been able to for years now (from what I've been told). <--perhaps misinformed but I am new to adopt the whole app-centric phone generation (was on Windows Mobile forever until I realized no one would ever develope for it again with Android and iOS on the market)
01-23-2012 06:54 PM
All a 3.5.1 version of the app update is coming soon.
thajoker - please post your querr in the Xfinity TV apps section

Seems to work better after update to Gingerbread OS. At least I get notifications and e-mails don't disappear on the phone.
Needs improvement:
* Need to be able to delete e-mails without opening first
* After deleting an e-mail that has been read, needs to go back to the inbox (rather than the next e-mail)
Samsung Captivate.

- You can delete an email without openieng it by press and hold on that email- it will bring up the context menu and you can delete it from there. This is standard android context menu.
- Go to settings from the main menu of the app - and in Messages - select 'Navigation' and change it to 'messsages' . After that it will go to messages instead of next message.
