Actually, AT&T told me this morning that if the texts go out over the 3G network, then you do get charged for them.
02-13-2012 01:01 PM
I was just notified via email of your reply.
AT&T plan? I do not understand. I never mentioned AT&T and I don't even use that cellular company.
I am just trying to figure out which Xfiity phone plan I have. Your release states "Text Messaging from XFINITY is included at no additional charge for all residential XFINITY Voice Unlimited customers. Residential Local with More customers can try it at no additional cost until May 31, 2012."
As I said before I have checked everywhere on my account on your site and cannot determine which I have. Can you tell me WHERE to find that information?
Thanks!

I have checked everywhere on my online account and your site yet cannot figure out which we have. How can I determine which service we have?
Thanks!
Your bill should reflect wether you are local with more of unlimited. What does it say for Xfintiy Voice as a line item in the bill?
02-13-2012 01:32 PM
As a line item? It doesn't say which of the two (Voice Unlimited or Local with More) it is.
I looked at XFINITY® Voice Details in my account an nowhere does it give either of those terms, so if they don't spell it out somewhere how is one to know?
If they are going to use terms they should use the same ones throughout so that people know what they might end up paying more for and what they won't. I just want to know before I go to all the trouble of downloading and setting it all up.
Thanks for the help!

Are there any plans to make the Xfinity apps for Android compatible with Honeycomb/tablets?
I have an Acer Iconia Tab A100 and my daughter has an Iconia Tab A500. The Xfinity apps aren't available to them.

I have the new app on my Android phone, but have yet to find any texting functionality associated with it. Please advise.

Xfinity mobile app's current version is not compatible with android tablets. We are working on releasing a compatible version update soon.

Anon - are you logged in with a Primary User ID ? Do you have Xfinity Voice service ? Are you able to see voicemails and call logs in the ap?
02-13-2012 04:32 PM
Primary - no.
Xfinity Voice - yes.
See voicemails and call logs - yes.
02-13-2012 04:41 PM
I have the problem with both 3G and Wifi. I have both deleted the app and re-installed, and also logged out and back in numerous times. I always get the connection error message. My email and voicemail parts of the app have no issues at all.

Thanks for checking that out for me, but where was I to find that information myself? Where can I tell my kids to look for their homes?
Thanks!

Worked it out myself. Thanks.
Seems they wanted the email the installers gave me when they set up the account 10 years ago and I never use!
Once I realized that I got texting set up.
Not ideal but it'll work.
Thanks
02-13-2012 08:23 PM
You can change your primary user account yourself, and keep or delete the one the installer got you. Search for "Change your primary account" in the help and support section at the Comcast/Xfinity web site. You can change the primary account to the one that you are currently using. I did and now I get text messaging on it.
02-13-2012 08:39 PM
I could do that but I already have an email app on my iPhone, I just want this for texting so it'll work.
Since my husband already has his whole phone paid by his place of employment I am the only one that needs it. It doesn't matter to me which email I have to use to log in. Since we never use this email I don't have to worry about this app dumping a bunch of email onto my iPhone.
Thanks anyway!

Annon - please log in with a Primary ID in order to use Text Messaging. Support for Secondary IDs is coming soon.

Sarah - the team is analyzing log for 'connection errors' and will finish investigation shortly. I will keep you updated. Meanwhile please try logging out and logging back in now.

Is the primary the only account with text capabilities? Can primary authorize others? If yes, how is this done?
Thanks
ramzev- for now only the primary account can use text messaging. He cannot authorize secondary accounts to use text messaging. Very soon we will be launching the secondary ID support so they can get virtual numbers for secondary IDs. Stay tuned for updates.

Have had time now to have Xfinity Mobile on my iPhone... please tell me how to set this up so it stops playing alerts in my purse! Today it had a number in the hundreds next to the icon! That's ridiculous! I purposely set it up using an email address (our primary one that the installers decided to give us when they put in our service almost 10 years ago) that we NEVER even use! So why is it saying that I have that many messages?
HOW do I get that and the stupid music alerts to stop? I just want the phone to ring when someone texts me using the Xfinity Mobile app, period. How does one set up the notifications within the app and the iPhone to achieve just that?
Thanks!

I am having this same exact problem for weeks now. I have no problem using the apps for my e-mail or voicemails, but the texting service just refuses to work for me.
I have reinstalled the app on both my iPhone and iPad, logged out of both of them at the same time, etc.
I sometimes get the message that "Text service has already been set up on this account. Please log out and try again."

hello,
As a work around have you gone to your xfinity connect on the computer and loaded the program there?
02-19-2012 02:04 PM
Mageebee - the badge count indicates that you have that many emails in your inbox for the Id that you uses Iogin. The other alerts are about incoming email messages. As far as controlling the chimes is concerned, you can absolutely do that. When you are in the main menu of the app you can go to settings by the tapping the setting icon on the bottom right of the screen. Once in settings go to Notification and sounds. Here you can turn OFF xfinity connect email notifications. I believe the music you are talking about is for caller ID. Don't know you are aware but that is the notification that tells you when someone calls your home with and also displays who is calling. You can turn Caller ID notifications to OFF if you don't like to recieve them. Keep the Text messaging notifications to ON. The best way to utilize the notifications is really controlled by what you haves chosen from your device,s notification settings for xfinity mobile app. You can set the notification to come as an alert pop up or as banner alerts. Thanks

I have tried signing up for the text messaging service numerous times over the past 3-4 weeks. I have tried through the iPhone app, the iPad app, and through Xfinity Connect. I have also deleted the apps on both devices and reinstalled several times. Nothing works to get me set up with the text messaging service. Sorry. ![]()

Okay, now this is ridiculous... I just got two texts BUT the phone does not ring when they come in! WHAT setting do I set so the PHONE rings for a text??? I don't want to be notified of emails, I don't use the app for email... I JUST want the darned app to make my iPhone ring when a text arrives... can you tell me how to set that up please?
It would have been nice if Comcast had put a full tutorial online before releasing this app. I hate having to just wing it or come to a forum to figure it out. I actually review iPad apps for a living and this one needs some serious support in the form of tutorials.

The thing is I don't NEED to be notified of my emails! I have an app for them, I have no desire to access them with this app. I just want to use it for texting... AND that means the phone MUST RING when they come in... I am not a mindreader!
There must be a simple way to adjust this app so that ONLY texts makes it ring.
There should be an employee that knows how to do it...
02-22-2012 01:45 PM
Hi Jim,
Can you try log out and login back again from the app? do you see text tab once you go inside app?
Let me know if this works.
Hi MaggeeBee,
are you able to send text messages? if you are seeing any notifications for incoming texts can you go to application settings , ringtones, text ringtones and change the ringtone.
02-22-2012 07:28 PM
Yes, I can send text messages. My daughter replied with two I found later because my phone never made a noise. I have changed the text tone to another, annoying sound and will check it out when my husband gets home to see if it works.
Thanks!
02-22-2012 08:40 PM
ARGGHHH! NO that did not work. I just sent a text to my iPhone and while it sends it there is NO ringtone so what good is it? I am not a mind reader.
I went to settings/Sounds/Text Tones and set the ringtone to Alarm... very annoying, long ringtone, and it didn't work.
I have another texting app, Textfree, that I kept because theirs supports photos, but that one has a totally different ringtone that you set up WITHIN their app. It rings to a separate number they gave me that is NOT my Verizon number OR my Comcast phone number... I just tested that one from my husband's phone and it works fine.
So why won't your Xfinity Mobile app RING??? A text app that won't ring is worthless.
So any other ideas?
WHY doesn't your app have a text tone setting inside it? the only sound setting is for mail!
Thanks for your continued help!

I downloaded the Xfinity Mobile app on my iPhone so I could try out the new texting features, but it appears that it doesn't recognize me as an account holder. I've entered my email address and password, but when I click on Messages, nothing is there except a page saying I need to sign up for High Speed Internet (I am a subscriber). If I click on My Account, I get a page saying "You do not have access to account or billing information..." Any idea what's wrong?
02-23-2012 12:44 PM
OK, I tried logging out and logging back in, and that seemed to fix that part, but I do not have a text option in the Message area. All I have is All, Email, Voice, and the funky looking folder on the right.
02-23-2012 01:09 PM
OK, I just figured out that I am a secondary on this account. My husband's name is on the bill so he's primary and I'm secondary. I logged into the app as him and can get the texting feature. However, if I log out and log in as myself, I cannot. Will this be fixed? 'Cause if not, this app is useless to me.
02-23-2012 01:58 PM
They've already said that only the primary account holder can access texts at this time. They will extend it to secondaries at a later date. They also will add picture capability next year.
In the meantime the app doesn't make my phone ring when a text arrives, so unless you're a mind reader it's not much help.
