Re: The XFINITY Mobile app™ will soon be changing to the XFINITY™ Connect app

Hello,

And what about us blackberry users. We only have been waiting for over 2 yrs for the xfinity mobile app which has been working great. Now we are waiting for a newer os 7.0 or 7.1 .version for the bold 9900.

We were told on 9/19/2011 that comcast is working on this but we have not heard on how the update is going.

There has been so many updates for the mobile apps for the iphone, ipad and android we want it for the blackberry.

Thank you

Re: The XFINITY Mobile app™ will soon be changing to the XFINITY™ Connect app

CommcastComms, thank you for the information.

Now define SOON. A lot of us have heard SOON about various Comcast products and upgrades for many years. In a lot of these cases SOON was months or years away.

We've been given target dates that came and went with no changes or product release.

I call myself a jaded skeptic where Comcast is concerned. I'll believe it when I see it.

I sympathize with you but the latest figures show RIM with less than a six percent market share in the smartphone market.   The company is most likely going to be bought out or they are just going to be a software company licensing their system.

Re: The XFINITY Mobile app™ will soon be changing to the XFINITY™ Connect app

I ditched my Blackberry, which I really liked, and got an Android. With the future of RIM in doubt I decided it would be best for me to switch to my Droid.

Hi Queen-Evie, thank you for your response.  The new app is now live for both iOS and Android. We hope you enjoy the improvements and new features, and would value your feedback on the new app.

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

I like the new app, but I do have one suggestion...

It would be nice if the settings for showing xfinity voice would "stick"...

What I mean by that, is when  you go into the vioce tab, and hit the little green "person" button, and select "all" (or missed, or voice mail) to see all phone calls, the app loses this setting  on the next launch...

It would be nice to persist the setting.

Thanks...

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

[ Edited ]

You want feedback so here it is. It's nice if you like something flashy. I installed the app and it took me less than a minute to decide I don't want it. I don't care about groups and favorites.

"The enhanced address book includes separate views for your phone contacts and XFINITY contacts" shows me, when I click to view Xfinity contacts, my phone contacts. Why do I need to see them ALL in both places? My doctor's office is definitely not one of my Xfinity contacts but is listed as an Xfinity contact. In addition to that when I looked at my XfinityConnect address book online ALL my phone contacts are listed in that address book-I'm looking at FB friends (which are on my phone), those whose names/numbers are on my phone, and  some of my Google + contacts who are not listed in my phone contacts.

Makes me glad I use an email client. I should have about 10 contacts in my XfinityConnect address book (as opposed to the 110 that are there after installing the useless and flawed app)  and those 10 should be the only ones in the Xfinity app address book. I have 3 separate entries for my son, so if I used the app to send him mail  I would have to figure out which one to use and hope it's the one that sends him email instead of the one that has his work, home, and cell phone numbers. I certainly don't need the PHONE NUMBERS of 80 something/90 something aunt and elderly neighbors who DON'T have computers listed in my XfinityConnect address book. If there are separate views for phone and Xfinity Connect contacts why does my XC view have more than the 10 which should be there? I'll tell you why-because it added PHONE contacts to my XC contact list.

Now explain how I can use my phone to program my dvr if I am not at home. The new app took away that function.

Before you tell me to download and install the Xfinity TV app, I did that already. Unfortunately it DOES NOT WORK.

When I tried to use it

1) I signed in and got the screen with my cable boxes listed.

2) I then got this error "An unknown error occurred during this request. Please try again." when I get to the tv listings. I click Try Again, same thing.

3) Next time I click Cancel and I see the little blue gear going round and round while telling me LOADING. THEY DON'T LOAD. I got busy and 20 minutes later when I went back to my phone it was STILL LOADING.

All I want to do is be able to use the app to set up recordings like I have done in the past with the FUNCTIONAL, now non-existent app.

Comcast, in their zeal to "improve" took a giant leap backwards instead of forward.

FIX IT. I do NOT want to go back to the days of having to call my house (if someone is home) and have them go through all the listings, tell me what will be on, just so I can say "record it for me".

I am now on my 2nd attempt to get the TV app to work. 10 minutes in it's still  loading. Let me know when my tv app will work. Or tell me HOW to get it to work.

For now, both apps will be uninstalled.

Edit to add: XC mobile app uninstalled. But all the phone contacts still remain in my XC ONLINE address book. Excuse while I spend time that could better be spent doing something else getting rid of them. I'll do a wholesale delete and add back the ones I want.

TV app uninstalled. The best thing about being able to set a recording from it-If I am in the hospital I'm able to set up recordings with it. I suppose I need to stay OUT of the hospital until I am able do so again.

I've also deleted those extra 100 contacts from my XC address book and now have only the original 10 listed there.

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

[ Edited ]

1.  I had created personal email folders and placed them under the inbox folder on the web version of my email.  This is so they were closer to the top of the screen and I did not have to scroll through as many folders to access them.  I could see these folders in the prior app versions under the inbox folder.  With today's update, I  no longer seem to have access to those email folders I created under the inbox folder, I see just the 5 predefined folders, inbox/drafts/sent/junk/trash.

I can create a folder at the top level that the inbox/drafts/sent/junk/trash sit, and see that new folder within the new app, just not the folders under the inbox folder. In fact I can move all my existing folders located under the inbox folder on the web version to sit at the top folder level and then I can see them in the app.

But, is there any way to put them back under the inbox folder and be able to view them through the app to help limit scrolling on web version?

2.  Also, I am interested as someone posted above to know how to use dvr manager again from within this new updated app.

3.  Finally, I do like the address book segregating phone and xfinity.  I always felt challenged on my droid trying to understand which source supplied a certain email or phone number, especially since I have multiple sources feeding contact info.  I assume when entering email addresses or phone numbers, the app knows to search both phone books for suggestions.

4.  And finally, finally, I like the improved look and feel (especially being able to rotate screen when using launcher pro!) with one big exception - the amount of screen space that the xfinity bar, address/messages/favorites scroll bar, email/text/voice tabs, and the compose buttons on the bottom of the screen take up is way too much - it only leave about 2/3 of the screen for emails.  The xfinity bar can be removed, and other buttons can be put back under the menu button to reduce the amount of screen space they hog.

5.  Ok one more.  Is there any way for non-primary account users to access the text/voice features within the app if currently subscribed to the comcast triple play features?

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

I'm disappointed in the new app it's very buggy. My call lists are all messed up; calls that went to voice mail say they were answered, the caller ID feature doesn't work at all, the only caller ID info that's there is stuff from before I updated my app, there is no caller name just the number and new calls are not coming up at all. I use this app all the time and now it's useless. Is there a way to go back to the old, perfectly good, app?

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

It would be extremely nice to have an option to eliminate the confirmation popup when deleting an email message that one is reading.  When I have a bunch of messages that I want to delete after reading, it's a bit irritating to have to confirm that I really want to delete it after attempting to delete each one.  And yes, I know that one can delete them without confirmation from the message list, but I generally want to look at them before deleting them, and when you are actually viewing the message there does not seem to be any way to avoid the confirmation popup.

There's also a bug somewhere that was mentioned elsewhere that causes photos of favorite contacts to be associated with messages incorrectly.  Not something that I can consistently get to happen in a repeatable way, but which has happened more than once.

Anyone else having issues with accessing the text messaging portion of the Xfinity Connect app from their iPad?  Was working on the previous version just fine.  I updated to Xfinity Connect this morning and now it's been showing that it's trying to load my text messages for the past couple of hours.  Not having any issues with it from my desktop, just the iPad.  I had a momentary issue with the app telling me I wasn't an Xfinity Voice customer, but that issues seems to have resolved itself.

Email folders can be accessed by tapping on the Inbox icon/button at the top of the email list.

Similarly voice call lists can be accessed by tapping the voicemail icon/button at the top of the voicemail list.

@ Simons - totally agree re delete confirm.  Can we have the option to turn that off.  We have the trash folder if we inadvertanly delete by hitting "okay" opposed to "cancel" something.

@edreas - Re misisng email folders, the probelm is once you tap on the inbox on top of your messages, you can only see the primary folders, and not any subfolders you may have created, at least the subfolders under "inbox".

Also, not sure if anyone else has this problem or if it's related to my phone, but when there's an interent website address in an email, I can not click on it and go directly to that site.  I need to select, copy, open browser & paste - a bit much to do nowadays. (droid 2 global)

For tv you will need to use the Xfinity TV app. I hope it works for others because the tv app does not work for me.

try clearing cookies and clear cache.  Then go into the app itself and into settings and then do clear data.  Now delete the app.  restart your mobile device, download the app and sign in and see if it works now.  All the old app did for me was start the xfinity tv app.  If that does not work you can go to your box and to remote access set up and delete the set up and do it again.  If it works from the computer though that is not the issue.

also make sure your zip code is set correctly in the app.

Its amazing how it works for some and just does not for others.   What phone are you using this on?

1. All the folders that have a sub folder under them come with a + sign on the folder icon, if you tap on the folder - it will expand and show all the sub folders under it.
2. DVR Manager for now is only available from the XFINITY TV App - they will soob be releasing a version where DVR manager will be intergated inside the Android XFINITY TV APP. We know this is an issue and we have passed this on to the TV app team.
3. On the Android app - yes the address book searches on both the Address books. We will be enhancing this feature soon so the app can provide options to search in both the address books.
4. We have taken this feedback and will do our best to increase the space for emails and reduce the top and bottom bar.
5. That feature will be coming out soon - can't tell a date yet, but that is definitely on cards.

I recommend deleting the upgraded version and doing a fresh install from the app store. Go to settings and turn OFF Caller ID noticiationsa dn then turn them back ON again. Call logs will show what is coming from the server and what you see on Xfinity Connect online. Can you check if both are matching ?

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

I had the xfinity mobile app which worked just fine.About a little over a week ago we received anemail about the new xfinity connect app. It was said to be a better app for our cell phone. I have an IPhone 3GS. I installed the new app yesterday and thought it was going to be fine until I went to put the emails I read into their folders. I discovered that most of my email folders did not transfer over when I installed the xfinity connect app. I did a live chat to try and resolve the problem. He told me to power off and restart my phone. I did that three times with no results. So I am a little upset at this point with the new app. I called today and I was told someone woukld call me within the hour and that never happened. I am still waiting for that return call. I called at twelve noon and it is now 6:00 pm. I am wondering if I will get the help I need or am I going to have to continue to use safari on my phone to go to comcast and put my emails in their folders. And as if that was not enough when I wrote my first post They asked me for a name so I used part of my email/user name. I always keep my username lowercase and without my permission today they totally capitalized it and now say it can not be changed back. I have been totally put out today and comcast really needs to fix this asap. Thanks Mrs. Hart

Shermo - sub folders can be expanded by tapping the folder with the plus icon. We are working on enhancing this and make all the sub folders expandable by default. - I have passed on the web link issue to our team. Usually if the link is not showing its primarily because of the HTML handling of the native components by Android. We will look into it. >

Can you send a screen shot to me of the screen where your folders are on kchahal@comcast.net ? Tapping on the folder icon on the left should expand it if it has multiple sub folders under it. If it's not expanding then it perhaps could be that folders are not coming through.

The new update is useless to me.  I cannot access the subdirectories in the inbox.  I will not upgrade my iPad now ever, because then I will have no way of getting to my different groups without logging onto a desktop to get to the website itself.  The previous version of the app was much more useful.  This one does nothing for me, and in addition, crashes on a regular basis.

I was told to get the subdirectories by tapping the inbox icon, but all that gives are the standard inbox, drafts, trash, sent, but none of the ones I've created under the inbox.

Screenshots sent. I sent one from my phone which hasn't been upgraded yet, to show the sub folders, and from my iPad, to show the lack thereof.

ppdx- once you tap on the inbox button in the list you will see the standard directory of folders - Inbox, Drafts, sent items etc - once tapping on the main folder in this view  - WILL EXPAND the folder further and will reveal all your sub folders.Any folder which has sub folders will appear with a + in it;s icon. Tapping on the icon will expand it and turn the + icon to a -

I replied to your email. Tap on the inbox button to bring up the pop-over, and then tap on the main folder's icon (with a + ) button  and it will reveal all the sub folders.

Okay, I see now. I have to tap EXACTLY on the Inbox icon in the popup to expand the list of subfolders. It's an arrow WITHIN the icon itself, not a plus sign next to it as I thought you were saying. Not very visually intuitive.

We will make sure that in the next release - the folders are expanded by default and the main and sub folders are visually distinct.

Hi Shermo,

Once you have the subfolder there you will see + sign in folders screen.

On click of + sign you will see the expanded view.

There you should see all the folders.

The new app was downloaded. When I attempt to start the app it says "Configuring Cfinity Connect.." and near the end of the progress bar it kicks out of the app. I've tried removing and reloading, restarting iPhone 4s, etc! I need a fix quick!

Ok, can expand inbox folder now.  As Joemoon says, no + sign for inbox like other folders, just the down arrow.  yes, would be good if you could have them expanded upon entering that screen (or leave them expanded/not expanded from last time you viewed it).

Thanks
