Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

It finally worked for me, but most of the time if I tap on the In icon it just crashes.

Also - I agree with the previous posts about the address lists.  I don't use xfinity telephone and I don't want my address info from my iphone going to xfinity.  It would be nice to disable that.  ALL I want is to be able to use this for email.  The other bells and whistles are immaterial.

ppdx - your iPhone address book is NOT GOING to the application - the app is merely showing the phoen address book in a phone tab. The address book is used to map your voicemails, emails and call logs to the names and photos in your address book. If you are not using the address book, then you can ignore it and never navigate to the address book

I've been reading lots of posts about the iPad & iPhone Connect app crashing at startup.  It happens on my devices every time...  I've removed the application, freed up space and reinstalled w/o any luck. Both devices are iOS 5.1.1 (9B206) w/ 32GB... I even called Comcast support.  They told me I'd have to pay for support to find out what's going on . . . ARE YOU KIDDING ME

I used the old app multiple times a day...  What is the eta on a fix?

Simply does not work. Dies during "configuring app". re-booting, re-installing .. nothing makes this function

everyone is not having an issue, I loaded it and it works for me there is something in some peoples config that is not allowing it to work.  It works on my ipad and iphone  why that is I cannot tell you.  It could be something that is configured locally on your device.

have any of you cleared cookies and cache and then deleted the app, then go to the settings on your iphone or ipad and to the xfinity tv app and clear all data there.  Now do a hard reset of your apple device by holding down the on button and home button until you go through the apple logo, now go to the app store and download the connect app.  Sign in and now try it.  Make sure before you sign in you are signed out of all other comcast apps.

If you do this post your results.

Also how many of you having issus have a jailbroken apple device?

Geobraun - unfortunatley the iOS system is such that applications take time to go through as updates because Apple reviews them before releasing it. I will reach out to you as soon as possible.

Since it sounds like the next update is imminent, it may be too late for additional suggestions, but what I'd like to see, along with the subfolders expanded by default, is showing next to the folders the number of unread messages in each, rather than when you click on it, so I don't have to go hunting in each one when the app tells me that I have one unread message *somewhere*.

I also notice that my voice mails do the same thing:  show the correct name for a few seconds and then all display the name of the last person to leave a message.

Joe - It's a nice suggestion and i will pass it on. The problem with that is that to do that every folder has to refresh in the background and check for new messages and headers and that's a lot of data to be downloaded. Even the native Email app -(for Example the exchange on iOS) only synchronizes two or three folders , rest you will have manually go in and refresh.

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

Same contact name displayed for all text messages and voice mail - resolved

Summary:  after download, all messages show son as contact regardless of who sent or received.  after sending message to daughter, All messages show daughter as contact.

Comcast thought alphnumeric fields in the contact card may be causing the issue.

I have a rooted CM7 nook android.  (yes I love it)

These are the steps I took:

My son's contact card includes his email which is alpha numeric.

My daughter's is the same.

My husband's (whom I have also sent text messages to) has no alpha numeric fields.

To troubleshoot, i removed my daughter's alphanum fields in her xfinity card (as opposed to phone contact card).  This was the contact used - as I can go to her card and see text messages I've sent to her.  :This did not solve the problem.  She still shows as the sender of all my text messages.

step 2: I deleted her as a contact in both the phone and xfinity.  One at a time.  No change.  ( this was all done within the xfinity app)

step 3: I exited the app and went directly to the phone contact list.  Deleted her there.  Result:  text messages display properly.  However, the clearly can't be the work around everytime I text someone.  appears at this step that phone directory MAY have been problem, but not certain.

step 4:  texted my husband who had no alpha num fields.  text still displays properly.  He has contact cards in both phone and app, but no alphanum.

step 5:  looked for contact to my other daughter.  (son wasn't home :-)) other daughter has no alpha nu fields in the contact card.  She is in the phone directory but not the xfinity directory.  result:  txt messages display properly.  May not be phone directory - more likely alphanum fields.

step 6:  added husband to phone directory with alpha num field.  made sure it reflected in the xfinity app.  texted him.  texts still display properly.  So not phone directory and alpha num fields combined.

step 7:  added first daughter contact back to phone directory.  added alphanum email.  txted.  displays properly.

Step 8:  added first daughter contact back to xfininity directory.  added alphanum email.  txted.  displays properly. interesting, combines her texts into the same thread.  this would not be good if I knew two people of the same name.

conclusion:  appears that daughter contact card MAY have been the problem, but this doesn't make sense because son's name was the first contact that always displayed.  AND daughter now has alphanum fields in her contact card.  Would have thought that deleting her would have defaulted back to son showing as contact in all txt messages.

Not sure why this fixed the problem, but will continue to monitor.

FYI exit button in top right corner is difficult to press and often doesn't respond.  Don't beleive this is a nook problem as that corner works fine with other apps.

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

I've been noticing that the new app has been running by itself on my iPad. I use the SysStatMon app and I've frequently found the Xfinity Connect app running when I've never launched it, for example after restarting my iPad. I've seen other apps do this such as Yahoo! Messenger and Skype, which I find annoying, but I can't see why the new app launches itself and runs in the background (like a VOIP app). Why is that?

you need to have the xfinitytv app as a seperate app.  go to the appstore and download it.  comcast is seperating them as they are two different functions.

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

The old program XFINITY Mobile app was great.  I liked that I could check my emails and program DVR all from one app.  I've already uninstalled the XFINITY Connect app. It's of no use to me, it's junk. I would have never did the update if I had read the reviews first.  There are a lot of unhappy people complaining about the app on the Google Play Store.  New XFINITY TV app is no where as good either.

@MidNiteTich - You may not have noticed it, but the old Xfinity Mobile app actually launched the Xfinity TV app to do the TV & DVR stuff . . . that still works great.  I use it all the time as well.

Check your device for the Xfinity TV app as it is probably already installed but on another screen.

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

More bugs in the Android version:

If you set preferences to go to the next message after deleting a message...

When viewing an email message that is more than one page in length, if you scroll down and delete the message, it will delete the message, load the next message, but will automatically scroll down that new message presenting it toward the bottom instead of loading the next message and automatically displaying it at the beginning of the message.

Also on occasion if I delete a message the application automatically closes... it doesn't completely crash with a force quit message, it just closes and returns to the phone's home screen and I have to restart the app.  Sometimes after restarting the message I deleted has been deleted and other times it's still there and I have to delete it again.  This happens only occasionally, and not repeatably.

[ Edited ]

I updated to version 4.0.1 of XFINITY Connect for iOS two days ago.  Yesterday it worked, but today all I get is a black screen on both my iPhone and iPad.  Rebooting did not correct the problem.

I deleted the XFINITY Connect app from each of my devices and reinstalled it.  It worked fine until I rebooted one of the devices (an iPad), which appeared to kill the XFINITY Connect app.

I deleted the app and reloaded it yet again.  It worked fine until I turned off the iPad, after which it again produced a black screen when started.

It looks like version 4.0.2 is desperately needed!

This is a known issue. The screen goes black on certain Apple devices- if your app is running in the background and you turn off your phone and power it back up and then open the app, the app may show a black empty screen. The issue has been identified and fixed and will be part of the 4.0.2 update coming out soon. Workaround - just kill the app from the background ( double tap on home button of your device, and remove the app from the background) and restart again.

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

Same observations as Simons, quoted below.  The loading of the next message in the same part of messgae where you last left off in previous message was an issue I had on earlier versions of this app, which was corrected at one time.  So hopefully this is an easy fix.

In addition,

1) When in app and hit refresh in inbox, I often get kicke dout of app.

2) On inbox screen, if sender's name is too long to fit on one line, it shows the last line of the senders email address - this is often meaningless.  it should show the beginning of the name/email address if it needs to truncate and it can not be expanded to multiple lines.  Of course expanding to multiple lines would be my preference.

deleted the app from my iPhone.

Rebooted Iphone.

Reinstalled the app. - quits in first few secinds.

Went to updates and updated app.

resatrted  iphone.

Checked app.

started up and finished "configuring" after I entered requested data. (this is the second try - this time it seemed to work)

 I can check email again.

haven't pused the app too far. Also it notifies me now when I recieve a phone call at home.

Seems to be on track to being "repaired"

Re: The XFINITY™ Mobile app is now the XFINITY™ Connect app

I made a big mistake and upgraded the xfinity app on both my iPhone and iPad.  What a mistake.  I did it for two reasons 1) to finally be able to use my contacts that are in the Comcast email app instead of the iPhone contacts and 2) I mistakenly thought that such an upgrade would support printing the emails.  Not only was I wrong on the second part but I now have to suffer through a user interface that is awful.  It is not intuitive and in some cases does not work.  It does not matter how i try to edit and delete emails on my iPad - they will not delete.

The app is soo bad that my family is now relegated to getting our email from the web browser app.  It is so bad, we are now investigating other options like gMail to move our email to.

You have effectively lowered my expectations.
